The November rankings refresh of the 2022 class brought many new additions and a few substantial advancements. Players ranked have climbed to nearly 200 in number. Offers and commitments have seen a spike after a slow start through the fall and is a factor in the movement of some players. Most movement, like that of the 2021 top ten and next ten, has been driven by play in the past three months and input from many other stakeholders including parents, other Prep Girls Hoops scouts, coaches, and other players. Here’s a look at the top ten advancers in the 2022 rankings in order by number of positions climbed.
Tya Tindall

At a No Boundares/MaxLab Training scrimmage she matched up with #40 Asia Dawson

Asia Dawson
AsiaDawson5'6" | SGWichita East | 2022StateKS for the better part of an hour. Tindall continued to show her athleticism and quickness to the basket as well as good three point range. On the other end Dawson could get a step but never had an unchallenged basket attack. In the end they battled to a draw with both players making plays on both ends. Tindall at times tries to do too much handling the ball and on the scoring front. As she grows in the "run the show" department and creates off the bounce she will be even more difficult of a match-up on both ends.
Saniya SimmonsSaniyaSimmons5'1" | PGOlathe North | 2022StateKS, 5’1", G, Olathe North, Missouri Phenom - Simmons also explodes up the ranks, gaining 75 spots to #15. A 2020 Sunflower League honorable mention who averaged 3.9 steals and 2 assists, she picked up an offer from Grand Canyon University in August. PGH Kansas’ Joel Webb describes her as "...a natural athlete, who is a great on the ball defender. Saniya’s quickness allows her to get where she wants on the floor. Has a good handle which helps allow her to create for her teammates and herself." Simmons is a floor leader with great half-court vision and the ability to make great entry, including backdoor, and lead passes one-handed. A finisher who uses her body well to create three point play opportunities.
Aubree Dawson
AubreeDawson5'6" | CGWichita East | 2022StateKS, 5’6", PG/SG, Wichita East, Next Level Eclipse - Dawson vaults 33 spots to #43. At the October No Boundaries/MaxLab Training scrimmage she matched up with #27 ranked teammate
Isis Sanders
IsisSanders5'8" | SGWichita Northwest | 2022StateKS. Smart, tough, and a creative defender she continually adjusted how she defended and kept getting stronger as they played. Having been able to see her play live a few times this summer including at the October Kansas PGH Top 250 Expo event, she has consistently shown a strong offensive game. She runs the break quickly after an outlet pass, moves well off ball, scores on the move after the catch, and has become a consistent three point threat. Dawson earned Greater Wichita League honorable mention in 2020.

Amaya Perez
AmayaPerez5'7" | CGDodge City | 2022StateKS - 5’7", PG/SG, Dodge City, GameBall Basketball - Perez also jumps 33 spots, reaching #42. She has come a long way from the player I saw her the first time at a early January match-up with McPherson. At a June GameBall camp she showed scoring and strong show-the-ball ability, as well as athleticism and coordination. At July's MAYB Reign the Plains event she showed the ability to lead the transition game with control and that she had extended her range to 20' over the summer. Also a solid defender and free throw shooter, Perez has committed to Newman University.
Lillian KovalcikLillianKovalcik5'7" | SGShawnee Mission South | 2022StateKS, 5’7", SG, Shawnee Mission South, Kansas Elite - Kovalcik gains a foothold into the top 100 by climbing 30 spots to #100. She does a bunch of little things well: Shows the ball well to set up the dribble drive, make the touch entry pass with her good interior vision, and has a nose for the offensive rebound. She also has three point range and can finish with athleticism.

Gabriella Henderson-Artis
GabriellaHenderson-Artis5'10" | SFBishop Miege | 2022StateKS, 5’10", SG/SF, Bishop Miege, Lady Run GMC - A returning Eastern Kansas League second team selection, Artis has had a strong summer. She had impressive showings at the Wichita I-35 Showcase and the Kansas PGH Top 250 Expo, where she earned a all-Expo team spot along with
Aubree Dawson
AubreeDawson5'6" | CGWichita East | 2022StateKS. Long, fast, and athletic she showed quick hands on the defensive end and at times dominated match-ups on the offensive end.

Allie Burns
AllieBurns5'8" | CGBishop Miege | 2022StateKS, 5’8", W, Bishop Miege, KC Next Level Eclipse - Burns jumps 24 positions to #79 on the heals of her play at a July MAYB tournament. She elevated well on rebounds and put in a strong defensive performance on a very talented wing for Victory Christian (MO).
Tatum BoettjerTatumBoettjer6'2" | PFDerby | 2022StateKS, 6’3", PF/C, Derby, PBR Team Lex Nation Breeze - In May I wrote about Boettjer's likelihood to break into the top 80 in the class. Climbing 25 spots to #65, she has accomplished that in spades. At the Wichita I-35 Showcase what caught the eye of coaches was her open court play. She lead transition play off the rebound using solid handles to get down the floor with speed and was able to go to the hole; kick to a wing and dive for a return pass and finish; or pull up quickly and shoot the three.

Sarah Lawless
SarahLawless6'2" | CBasehor-Linwood | 2022StateKS, 6’2", PF/C, Basehor-Linwood, KC Next Level Eclipse - After debuting in the August rankings, Lawless advances 14 spots to #114. Lawless has a solid build, runs well, and has good length. The ability that stood out most at a July MAYB tournament was her hands. She catches well in traffic and has the inside game to score it.
Maycee James
MayceeJames5'9" | CGWichita Northwest | 2022StateKS, 5’9", CG, Goddard, Kansas United - James will suit up for Goddard, playing for her dad, after transferring from Wichita Northwest. The Greater Wichita League second team selection has a strong overall game that is the catalyst for climbing 12 positions to #18. Fast, athletic, consistently aggressive, scrappy, physical, durable, quick, and a good offensive rebounder are among the things she is. Those together make her a terrific scorer.
