Continue ReadingWith the November refresh of the class of 2021 rankings the number of players included has grown to 242. In the interceding three months since the previous update a large number of changes have occurred due especially to players showing growth in and strength of their games at exposure events, scrimmages, and late tournaments. A substantial thanks to parents, other Prep Girls Hoops scouts, other media, club managers and coaches, high school coaches and administrators, and more for their input. Here’s a look at the top ten in order of positions climbed.
Emilia Nworie Emilia Nworie 6'4" | C Sunrise Christian | 2021 State KS , 6’5″, C, Sunrise Christian Academy, Next Level Eclipse – Nworie advances 74 positions to #22 after a very strong, active summer punctuated by improvements in her perimeter shooting and mid-range, off-the-bounce game. She has generated offers and strong interest from division NJCAA I and NCAA Div I and II schools.
Alli Frank Alli Frank 6'0" | C Spring Hill | 2021 State KS , 6’0″, C, Spring Hill – The Baker University volleyball commit comes into the season after earning Kansas Basketball Coaches Association 5A honorable mention and Frontier League first team selections in 2020. Rising 70 positions to #50, Frank hustles and changes ends fast off the steal; elevates and absorbs contact well on the finish; and sShe has a quick perimeter shot, including beyond the arc.
Natalie Payne Natalie Payne 5'9" | SF Shawnee Mission South | 2021 State KS , 5’9″, SF, Shawnee Mission South, Kansas Elite – After launching 75 spots to #102 in August, Payne vaults another 54 to #48. Payne is a physical, tough, active defender with good strength unafraid to battle bigger and stronger post players. She has good end-to-end speed off the steal with the ability to finish with speed versus a chaser. Add her three point stroke and quick, mid-range jumper and the well-rounded Payne causes problems for who matches up with her on both ends of the floor.
Symone Simmons Symone Simmons 5'11" | C Garden City | 2021 State KS , 5’11”, C, Garden City, Western Kansas Elite – Simmons advances 47 positions to #177 following her play against #12 PF Kerenna Gerber at a mid-July MAYB tournament. While not quite as strong, big, or athletic Simmons competed and showed a strong ability to ready plays to help well. I would like to see her use better position against quicker posts and improve her elevation around the basket. A good free throw shooter, Simmons has the ability to get to the line.
Khloe Schuckman Khloe Schuckman CG Bishop Carroll | 2021 State KS , 5’6″, CG, Bishop Carroll – The speedy, physical Washburn University Soccer commit advances 31 positions to #105. A Greater Wichita League first team selection in 2020, she uses her strong motor; quick hands; and anticipation sense to disrupt high ball screens. Schuckman can work fast and with vision with the ball in transition and in the half court. She also is a solid mid-range and perimeter shooter.
Jazzy Klinge Jazzy Klinge 5'9" | SG Blue Valley | 2021 State KS , 5’9″, SF/PF, Blue Valley, Kansas Elite – Klinge advances 25 positions to #49. Klinge is regarded as a big time, athletic rebounder who plays hard on both ends of the floor. She scores well around the basket and is a good mid-range shooter. Klinge earned KBCA 6A honorable mention and Eastern Kansas League second team selections in 2020.
Cali Foltz Cali Foltz 5'10" | PF Anderson County | 2021 State KS , 5’10”, SF/PF, Anderson County, Khaos – The Pioneer League first team selection is a dynamic combination of solid build, transition speed, defensive smarts, athleticism, and scoring ability that makes her a threat to hang double-doubles on opponents every night. She advances 22 positions to #108 after gaining 22 spots following the March update.
Sydney Beck Sydney Beck 5'11" | SF Blue Valley Southwest | 2021 State KS , 5’11”, PF, Blue Valley Southwest, Precision Athletics – Beck has the ability to play and defend several positions. Active around the basket on both ends, she boxes well and gets out into transition. She also can finish with contact. The University of Central Missouri soccer commit advances 20 positions to #89.
Jennifer Jacobs Jennifer Jacobs 6'0" | SF Kapaun Mt. Carmel | 2021 State KS , 6’2″, PF, Kapaun Mt. Carmel, Next Level Eclipse – Among the hardest working players in the past year was Jacobs. As she and her game grew Jacobs attracted a substantial amount of attention, culminating in her recent commitment to Benedictine College. She has grown two inches and gotten stronger and more physical in the past year. She also has added a solid, mid-range jumper off the bounce. A Greater Wichita League honorable mention selection in 2020, Jacobs advances 19 spots to #69.
