PGH Iowa Top 250 Expo Review: Team 7 Vs. Team 8
Many of the top players in the state of Iowa gathered at Kingdom Hoops for the Prep Girls Hoops Iowa Top 250 Expo in October.
Games featured intense play throughout with athletes getting the opportunity to showcase themselves in front of college scouts while preparing for the start of the upcoming 2020-21 basketball season.
With so many changes hitting due to the novel coronavirus, including many summer camps and tournaments being scrapped, the Prep Girls Hoops Iowa Top 250 Expo provided those players with a great chance.
We will be offering up a recap from each game of the expo.
Jenica Raine Lewis, Johnston (2024)
Johnston has become one of the top teams in the state, producing high-level talent each season. Next up in that run is Jenica Raine Lewis, as the Class of 2024 prospect makes the leap.
Lewis is a lengthy, athletic player that can handle multiple positions. She floats around with ease on the court and offers a nice deep threat for the Dragons.
Lily Hillebrand Lily Hillebrand 5'4" | PG Ballard | 2023 State IA , Ballard (2023)
After getting her feet wet last year in 19 games for Ballard, Lily Hillebrand Lily Hillebrand 5'4" | PG Ballard | 2023 State IA will be a force to contend with on the hardwood this winter. Hillebrand scored 21 points with 11 rebounds, 8 assists and five steals in limited minutes.
The Class of 2023 prospect offers nice touch on her shot and an ability to defend around the perimeter.
Olivia Corson, Normal Community (2024)
Olivia Corson is very quick and has a nice vision that allows her to get to the basket without much issue. The Class of 2024 player is strong with the basketball in her hands and can get her shot off as well.
Brooklyn Anderson, West Des Moines Dowling (2024)
With a handful of players moving on, look for Brooklyn Anderson to make an immediate impact at West Des Moines Dowling. The Class of 2024 prospect brings good size to the hardwood with an ability to make perfect entry passes.
Kyla Mason, Cedar Rapids Xavier (2023)
In a handful of games last year, Kyla Mason was able to gain valuable experience on the court for Cedar Rapids Xavier. The Class of 2023 prospect presents good size and can really stroke the basketball.
Lauren Wilson Lauren Wilson 5'11" | PF Springville | 2022 State IA , Springville (2022)
One of the more dominant programs in Class 1A, Springville has another exceptional talent in Lauren Wilson Lauren Wilson 5'11" | PF Springville | 2022 State IA . As a sophomore last year, Wilson scored 361 points with 121 rebounds, 59 assists and 45 steals, shooting 41 percent from the field and knocking down 49 three-pointers.
Wilson is a good, physical presence inside and has excellent court vision that allows her to push the tempo of the game.
Ella Cadenhead, Cedar Rapids Kennedy (2022)
An ever-improving long-range shooter, Ella Cadenhead has continued to show progress over the summer. The Class of 2022 prospect scored 77 points with 34 rebounds, 20 assists and 12 assists in 19 games a year ago.
Cadenhead knocked down 15 triples and was also excellent at the free throw line.
