Below is a list of players who were labeled “sleepers” as they may have fallen under radars but have surely not lost any skill. These players have shown to be improving at a fast rate. These prospects are proving they’ve put the work in to add the skill and conditioning that will make them big time assets this season.
Emily Clevidence | Monona Grove | 5’8 G 2022
An eyes up passer- Clevidence has exceptional court vision. She thrives in the open court and sees much success finding her open teammates with the long overhead pass. She has a solid fake and go, she does well creating enough space to pull up for a jumper or kick out to the open shooter. Her ability to find her teammates cutting in the lane is super impressive. She is hard to stop when she takes her first step to attack the rim. An offensive rebounder as well, Clevidence brings so many skills to the floor.
Maci Bartels | DeForest | 5’7 PG/SG 2023
Bartels is a gifted athlete who has such a high ceiling. She is clearly well conditioned and will give 100% each minute she is on the floor. Competing on her JV squad last season as a freshman, Bartels proved she can lead an offense and be an impact two way player. She’s scrappy on defense and has good footwork when turning her opponent. She’s relentless in the press break and is very active at all times. Her ability to drive to the basket and finish against contact should not be taken lightly- she is skilled enough to finish or draw the foul and knock down her free throws.
Addison Yates | Brodhead | 5’8 CG 2024
Yates has shown glimpses of how much she will continue to develop in the years to come. She’s athletic and quick on the floor. She has great positional size already and seems to be able to use her body well anywhere on the court. She is an offensive threat who will continue to add moves to her bag. She’s crafty yet patient. She can hit the outside shot and can handle the ball to create opportunities. Her basketball IQ is already advanced and her movements and shot selections are becoming more and more impressive.
Makenna Huguet | New Berlin West | 5’5 PG 2022
She has elite facilitating skills that make her so important when she is on the floor. She has advanced court vision and understands how to successfully run an offense. Her handles are tight and composed- she does not force anything on either end. She is tough on defense and is constantly moving and altering passes or disrupting her opponent. She is an offensive threat as her first step is so hard to stop and she uses a quick floater or fake and finishes at the rim. She will see critical minutes for New Berlin West as her work ethic and ability to lead an offense is beyond impressive.
Kylie Lemberger | New Berlin Eisenhower | 5’9 CG 2021
Lemberger is a tremendous presence in the paint, both offensive and defensively. Not necessarily because of her height, but because of her strength and ability to cover a lot of space at one time. She is an elite athlete who can play nearly every position on the floor. She is comfortable in the paint and most successful going downhill and finishing at the rim. She’s continued to improve her perimeter shooting but is not afraid to knock it down from deep. She has the handles to successfully control the offense and push in transition. She plays with high intensity, but is impressively patient with the ball; she knows how to get the defender to leave her feet.
