The Knights have allowed just over 10 points per game in their three contests so far thanks to stellar team defense. Here are some standouts from their victory Friday.
DaiJa Turner (Village Christian 2021 6’4″ forward, TCU Signee)
Turner once again nearly lived up to her nickname, “triple double DaiJa” leading the way with 24 points for the Knights. She’s a great rebounder and shot blocker while being an efficient scorer in the paint. In the Big 12, all of those things will help her become a big contributor for the Horned Frogs next season and beyond. Turner is the engine of the Village Christian team and could be the reason the Knights make another deep run in the NCISAA 3-A state playoffs.
Jalynn Cade (Village Christian 2021 6’1″ forward)
Another key post player for the Knights is Jalynn Cade and while she didn’t have the scoring numbers Turner had in this game, she created a lot of extra possessions by dominating the offensive glass. Cade is also an excellent defender that can finish around the rim and pass the ball well as a post player. Turner will see a lot of different defenses as the season goes on, so Cade will be called on to step up scoring wise and she’s capable of doing so.
Khalan Williams (Village Christian 2022 5’6″ guard)
Williams facilitated well for the Knights throughout their game against New Life and attacked the basket with ease. She’s off to a really good start this season on both ends of the floor with several steals leading to fast break chances for her team. She’ll be another important piece for the Knights’ chance to win a state championship in 2021.
Truth King (Village Christian 2024 5’7″ guard)
One of the many talented 2024 prospects across North Carolina, Truth King is another guard that’ll play a big role for Village Christian this year. She’s not new to varsity basketball since she’s been on the Knights squad since 7th grade and in year three, her role has certainly increased in many areas. Expect her to be another key cog for the Knights this season on both ends of the floor.
