Several CA players were in attendance, and here’s a quick look at some of the players who raised their profile and you should be on the lookout for.
1. Amaya Fuentes – Ventura 2022
I first saw Fuentes play back in January and she stood out as a player who could really develop into a legit post presence. Back then, she showed good instincts in the paint but was clearly a work in progress. She’s more comfortable now establishing position in the paint and more decisive when looking to score around the rim. She has good size and is tough to guard in the paint. High upside.
2. Tiarah Galvan Tiarah Galvan 5'7" | PG Mater Dei | 2021 State CA – Mater Dei 2021
Galvan has emerged as solid combo guard prospect who has an improved handle. She was a player I tabbed as a potential breakout player this season. She’s a very good three-point shooter with a quick release. She is comfortable using her speed and attacking off the bounce and has good court awareness. She’s also a very strong defensive player on ball. Applies pressure on the ballhandler.
3. Grace Padilla – Santa Ynez 2021
Padilla is a good wing prospect. She’s strong and has good body control around the rim. She can use her frame to draw contact and get herself to the free-throw line. She has consistent range to three and can catch and shoot or shoot off the bounce. She’s a little bit versatile defensively; she has the tools and size to effectively guard multiple positions. She’s a good rebounder too; a legit double-double threat.
4. Malina Diaz – Agoura 2021
Diaz is a solid wing with a little bit of versatility. She has a nice midrange shot and she has consistent range out the three-point line. She can also go insider and establish herself in the paint. She’s a strong player who absorb contact and finish at the rim. Defensively, she has the ability to cover wings on the perimeter and she can drop back and body up in the post. A pretty solid rebounder as well.
