Regardless of how it’s read, versatility is an extremely desirable trait that college coaches are looking for. Let’s look at some versatile prospects that coaches at the next level will want to keep an eye on from the class of 2023.
Maddie Petroelje Maddie Petroelje 6'1" | SF Hudsonville | 2023 State MI (G/F, Hudsonville)
Prep Girls Hoops Michigan Ranking: #3
Petroelje can play and attack in so many different ways. Want to hound her on the perimeter? She’ll post you up in the lane. Want to shut down her mid range game? She’ll bury triples by the bunch.
Lexi Boyke Lexi Boyke 6'1" | PF Frankenmuth | 2023 State MI (PF, Frankenmuth)
Prep Girls Hoops Michigan Ranking: #11
Boyke has one of the most well rounded games in the state, probably regardless of class. She can bang in the paint with the best of them, but can also stretch the defense. Boyke is a true multi level scorer. She can even put the ball on the floor and atttack the rim.
Maya White Maya White 6'0" | PF Farmington Hills Mercy Hills | 2023 State MI (PF, Farmington Hills Mercy)
Prep Girls Hoops Michigan Ranking: #15
White has so much going for her as a player and a prospect. Her length and athleticism are a flat out weapon. She moves so fluidly on the court. White is constantly making herself a threat, whether it be in transition, cutting off the wing, or put backs in the paint.
Zar’ria Mitchell Zar’ria Mitchell 5'7" | PG Heritage | 2023 State MI (CG, Saginaw Heritage)
Prep Girls Hoops Michigan Ranking: #16
Mitchell always seems to be comfortable in the back court. It doesn’t matter what the situation or role she has is, she buckles down and performs. I feel like she could be asked to do anything, and Mitchell would just lace up her shoes and go at it.
Jada McCree Jada McCree 5'6" | CG Grand Blanc | 2023 State MI (CG, Saginaw Heritage)
Prep Girls Hoops Michigan Ranking: #19
McCree is similar to her teammate that we just talked about. She can play on or off the ball, both with effectiveness. McCree seems to be able to bounce between either position with spotless transition.
Kaitlyn Sanders Kaitlyn Sanders 6'1" | SF Birmingham Groves | 2023 State MI (SF, Birmingham Groves)
Prep Girls Hoops Michigan Ranking: #28
Sanders is a must see prospect in the sophomore class. I’m a firm believer that she has a huge upside. When watching her play, it felt like she could defend at least 3 different positions. Sanders is a high IQ player that, in all honesty, will probably become EVEN MORE VERSATILE as her high school career carries on.
Megan McCalla Megan McCalla 5'11" | PF Chelsea | 2023 State MI (PF, Chelsea)
Prep Girls Hoops Michigan Ranking: #65
McCalla is so versatile that it’s hard to even give her a position. She could ultimately, over time, translate into at least 3 different positions. McCalla can defend, and get big stops, in the paint and on the perimeter. She has the look of a 3 level scorer as well.
