City Rankings: Louisville’s Top 10 Players
In this article:
We’re here to answer the question of, “Who are the best prospects in the Louisville area?”
What are the stipulations? None, really. Regardless of position, here are the best players in the city (in my opinion). This is based off last season’s performance along with their play in the abbreviated AAU season and, of course, our Top 250 Combine.
- Tiarra East Tiarra East 5'11" | PF Butler | 2021 State KY , Butler (2021) – Size skill and athleticism, Tiarra has it all. She’s the complete package as a prospect and, for my money, the best player in the city. Temple got a great player when she signed with the Owls. Look for East to be a top contender for Miss Basketball as well (assuming Jefferson County has a season).
- Kennedy Lee, Manual (2022) – Kennedy has more potential than anyone in the city, in my opinion. She has potential to be a high major recruit and impact player at the next level. Lee can take her game to a level that many can’t reach when her motor is running all the time.
- Jaya McClure Jaya McClure 5'6" | PG Christian Academy Louisville | 2022 State KY , CAL (2022) – It feels like Jaya has been playing varsity for a decade now but she’s only a Junior. McClure is shifty and has a high IQ. I’m most interested to see her this year as she’s going to have to carry more of a scoring load for CAL to enjoy the same level of success they’ve had for the last few seasons.
- Triniti Ralston Triniti Ralston 5'7" | PG Sacred Heart | 2023 State KY , Sacred Heart (2023) – Ralston is the best young guard in the city already and could be the best guard in the 502, period. Her name has been around for a while now but Triniti never fails to back it up and will lead Sacred Heart’s reloading efforts this season.
- Jakayla Thompson Jakayla Thompson 5'9" | CG DuPont Manual | 2023 State KY , Manual (2023) – Jakayla is skilled and a big time shot maker. She also looks the part of a high major recruit in the 2023 class. I especially like her feel for the game and IQ as she left a long lasting impression at our 250 Expo in October.
- Sydne Tolbert Sydne Tolbert 5'6" | CG DuPont Manual | 2023 State KY , Manual (2023) – This one is more of an upside play as Sydne hasn’t had the opportunity to show her full skill set just yet but she has been consistently mentioned among Ralston and Thompson as the top Sophomores in the city. Excited to see her development over the next few seasons.
- Dynastee White Dynastee White 5'8" | SF Butler | 2021 State KY , Butler (2021) – One of the more under-appreciated players in the city, White doesn’t get a ton of pub for all that she does for the Butler program. Dynastee does a little bit of everything on the court and is going to be a really good college player once she gets to the next level.
- Amaya Asher Amaya Asher 5'7" | PG Central | 2023 State KY , Central (2022) – If you want a shifty point guard who can get a bucket from all over the court, Amaya is your gal. One of the best 2022s in the state, Asher is going to be a leader for a Central squad that could surprise a lot of people this season.
- Ellie Heid Ellie Heid 5'6" | CG Portland Christian | 2023 State KY , Portland Christian (2023) – Ellie doesn’t get a ton of recognition because Portland Christian is such a small school without much of a basketball history but she is a scoring machine who should put a whole lot of points on the scoreboard before she graduates.
- Kaela Ballard Kaela Ballard 6'1" | CG Portland Christian | 2023 State KY , Southern (2023) – Kaela is a lot like Heid and the two are about interchangeable on this list but she also packs a lot of scoring punch for a Southern team that relies on her to carry them offensively on a lot of winter nights.
