The rise in Covid cases has put the 2020-21 season in jeopardy. The good news a vaccine is being distributed and has some promising outlooks. Still some jurisdictions have yet again postponed while others have tentatively cancelled the entire season. Modified practices for many schools are continuing with hopes of actually playing. We are still going through scrimmages and fall leagues for what it’s worth. In light of the IH’s recent passing, the DMV rankings will continue in his honor. A quick look at 31-40 the preseason rankings.
31. Highland Springs – Iyanna Rogers Iyanna Rogers 6'2" | PF Highland Springs | 2021 State #78 Nation VA and Sydney Boone Sydney Boone 5'4" | PG Highland Springs | 2021 State VA have a one two punch that can compete with anyone in the region.
32. Henrico – Henrico comes in at #31 after a huge run last season behind late transfer Jada Walker Jada Walker 5'6" | PG Henrico | 2021 State #29 Nation VA . She will be expected to lead the only senior this season and no one on the roster over 6’0″.
33. Monacan – Monacan has had a nice run and graduation is starting to take its toll on the Chiefs. Jordan Hodges Jordan Hodges 5'5" | PG Monacan | 2021 State VA still makes them a formadible foe and Shawnise Campbell Shawnise Campbell 5'11" | PF Dinwiddle | 2021 State VA gives them some inside muscle to compete.
34. Sherwood – Angela Nnabue Angela Nnabue 5'6" | CG Sherwood | 2022 State MD will have a heavy load to carry if they can win the county, Chase Bell Chase Bell 5'8" | CG Sherwood | 2022 State MD can provide the spark needed to surprise some teams.
35. Trinity Episcopal – Alyssa Chapman Alyssa Chapman 6'1" | PF Trinity Episcopal | 2021 State VA has all met level skills, the question for the Titans is who else will emerge.
36. Dunbar (DC) – The DCIAA has had a series of down years and Zy’aire Hairston Zy’aire Hairston 5'7" | PG Dunbar | 2022 State MD is probably the top player in the city. She can lead the team to another title but may have to be a little selfish.
37. Marshall – The Trivisonno twins Christina and Mary have enough firepower the win enough games to take the Statesmen the state semi’s. They feed off of each other and will look to make the next step to take over games in crunch time.
38. Kempsville – Graduating five seniors will hurt any team and having only one returning to start the season is tough. That’s where the Cheifs find themselves at with Ajah Hoskie being their only upper classman returning. Cate Carlson may be able to pick up the slack.
39. Norview – Mikaya Tynes Mikaya Tynes 6'2" | C Norview | 2021 State VA at 6’3″ will be tough to stop. Two questions, can they get her the ball and who will step up when she faces the double and triple teams? Look for LeAsia Foreman LeAsia Foreman 5'9" | SG Norview | 2022 State VA to be the go to.
40. Frederick – Kylee Maddox leads a team full of sophomore that may have to rely more on chemistry than anything else to win,
