Freshman watch week 3

[caption id="attachment_234349" align="alignright" width="150"]<img class="wp-image-234349 size-thumbnail" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/pgh/uploads/2020/12/DSC_0005-1-150x150.jpg" alt="" width="150" height="150" /> TRINITY MAXWELL[/caption] I mentioned [player_tooltip player_id="161562" first="Gwendlyn" last="McGrew"] in my earlier article on how she’s making the transition in high school ball at Dobie and as always, she was more than enjoyable because she just goes hard, no matter what the score is, up or down, you get the same effort and with her mindset, I don’t even know how to word it other than soon to be unstoppable and here are some of the standouts from 2024 class &nbsp; &nbsp; <strong>Melinda Winston-6’0 SF (Hastings HS)</strong> Winston ain’t just the name of a cigarette but she’s LIT averaging just under 20 PPG for the season as a freshman. I didn’t realize I wrote about her four years ago, I love reading things I wrote, not just because I love bragging about how good I am, okay that’s exactly why but the potential I saw in this young lady <a href="https://girlzprepreport.blogspot.com/search?q=winston">4 years ago</a> is right there and as she finishes with ease, her handling of the ball as well scoring off the dribble and shooting the midrange has taken completely off as she does in the open court. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="158864" first="Kemah" last="Shaw"]-5’7 PG (Austin HS)</strong> Shaw has been capturing my attention for some times now, and one more time, that was not a charge, it was an and-one at the TJ Showcase, but her ability to create contact and finish was way ahead of her years because she gets it, she thinks it through, and she gives it, three attributes you can’t teach as she’s averaging a shade above 12 PPG but wait, she’s shooting 50% from the field while stealing the ball and rebounding and hold on to this non-erroneous stat, she’s dropping the long ball 46% of the time which equates to 69% efficiency of 2 pointers, it may be on your SAT/ACT <strong>Zachara Perkins-6’1 PG (St Pius X)</strong> Perkins is about the be tagged the PERKolator because she’s boiling and sending messages directly. I love progression, I keep telling people it ain’t where you start, its where you finish and after seeing her poise at the 1 against John Cooper, what did I tell you, watch out, it’s coming and after dropping 37 earlier in the week, including 6/8 BTA, she drops 30 last night, both games double-doubles. Long and athletic, handles the ball, creates her shot, seeing the floor, again watch out !!!! <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="166646" first="Kendall" last="Sneed"]-5’7 G (Hardin Jefferson HS)</strong> Sneed has been consistently scoring in double digits with her talented Hardin Jefferson team as they’re apparently about to run away from everyone in the district. I’m impressed that she has come in and adjusted quickly, her playing up over the club season helped her, it doesn’t work for everyone but her skill set and poise played a huge part that has trickled over to the school season <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="158865" first="Amiyah" last="Cotton"]-5’7 G (Dobie HS)</strong> Cotton is an explosive scorer, had a chance to catch her on the JV team and saw her defense in full effect as well as her rebounding. The upside is just eerie when you see what’s coming and trust me, it’s COMING <strong>Trinity Maxwell-5’6 G (Dobie HS)</strong> Maxwell is an athletic guard, has a nice first step that enables her to get by defenders but she also can create her shot in traffic and drop the jumper. Caught her on the JV squad as well, plenty of upside
