This Saddle River Day star has not even played a game as an upperclassman and is already ready for the next level. She will have two years to fine tune her game even further, which is a scary thought for opponents.
As a sophomore, Caldwell took the next step on both ends of the floor. It is impressive to see a young player so committed to her game on the defensive end. Caldwell is also tasked with guarding the opposing team’s best player and does it well. She averaged 6.1 steals per contest a season ago. She has quick feet and active hands on the perimeter which allows her to get in passing lanes.
Offensively, Caldwell has been a star since her first game. In 2019-2020, she averaged 20.6 points per game and was able to get it done from any level. She knocked down 81 three’s and 87 free throws. Her threat from deep made defenders come out to guard her. She could either create her own shot or use her speed to get by them. With the ball in her hands, Caldwell has a high IQ.
Caldwell plays a game that is well beyond her years. She is an excellent playmaker in the open court. She can run in transition or setup her teammates in the half court. At only a sophomore’s age, Caldwell would act as a coach on the floor which made things easy for her coach on the sideline.
Heading into her junior year, Caldwell will be a must-watch player from the season’s opening game. It will be interesting to see how she improves further in her career. There will be many programs interested in a player like Caldwell because of her skillset and basketball mind.
