While some of the top assist players from last season are gone to graduation, there are returning players who thrive off making assists. Let’s take a look at the top facilitators returning for the 2021 season.
Caitlyn Decker Caitlyn Decker 5'6" | PG Red Bank Regional | 2021 State NJ , Red Bank Regional: Decker was one of the top assists players in the state last year, averaging 6.7 a game, which was fourth-best in the state last year. She finished with 173 assists in 26 games of action. Decker, who was also a top player on the team in steals, points and free throws, had four double-digit assist performances – 10 each against Toms River East and Matawan – and 11 apiece against Absegami and Lacey.
Eniya Scott Eniya Scott 5'6" | PG Bayonne | 2022 State NJ , Bayonne: Scott was a major distributor for Bayonne in addition to her great efforts on the offensive and defensive ends. She set the tone for the season with 12 assists against North Bergen in the season opener. Scott also dished out 10 assists against Kearny in a double-double performance later on in the season.
Olivia Falicki, Palymra: Falicki had a strong junior season for Palmyra last year, averaging 5.9 assists per game and 171 assists in 29 games of action. She had 11 assists against Doane Academy, 10 in a meeting with Riverside and Penns Grove and nine apiece against Cherry Hill West, Woodbury, Bordentown and Woodstown.
Zanai Jones Zanai Jones 5'5" | PG Hudson Catholic | 2021 State NJ , Hudson Catholic: Jones, a Villanova commit, finished a strong junior season with 154 assists in 28 games, an average of 5.5 assists a game. As great as she was scoring the ball, including a 40-point performance against Dickinson, getting to the foul line and making life difficult on the defensive end, she was just as impactful with getting her teammates involved and putting them in good positions to score. She had 10 assists against Kearny and nine apiece against Leman Manhattan (N.Y.) and Secaucus.
Julia Corella, Ramapo: Corella consistently got her teammates involved. She averaged 5.4 assists per game for Ramapo last season. She made smart plays all season and prided herself as a player who could score, rebound, facilitate and make steals on the defensive end. She had eight assists against Pascack Valley and seven apiece against Old Tappan, Paramus Catholic, Northern Highlands, Ridgefield Park, Indian Hills and Warren Hills.
