Troy Tournament (Top Underclassmen)
Prep Girls Hoops Missouri takes a look at some of the top underclassmen from last week’s Troy Tournament. There was a very good crop of young prospects on display in Lincoln County.
Chantel Clayton 5’7″ Cardinal Ritter: A talented 2024 point guard who has a quick first step, but is smooth and fluid in how she plays the game. She has a nice hesitation move off the bounce and can break down defenders, plus she has 3-point shooting range to boot. She is also a ball-hawk on the defensive end. A Division I prospect.
Hannah Wallace Hannah Wallace 6'0" | SF Cardinal Ritter | 2024 State MO 6’1 Cardinal Ritter: An athletic 2024 wing player with excellent length and a skill set to match. She handles the ball well and can create her own shot off the dribble while being able to knock down open 3-pointers. She runs the court and excels in the transition game. Definitely a Division I prospect.
Ai’Naya Williams 6’2″ Cardinal Ritter: Another one of those talented 2024s from Ritter, she displayed a very good post game with a variety of moves. She can catch and drop step or she can knock down the turnaround jumper over the right shoulder. Her footwork was excellent. Her upside is substantial.
Jordan Starkey 5’6″ Troy: A 2022 guard who enjoyed a solid tournament in which she averaged 11 points a game. She is a very effective 3-point shooter. When she has the time and space, she will let it fly and she will knock it down. She is a solid ball handler who also had some nice finishes on the break.
Madison Carroll 6’0″ Holt: A transfer from Timberland, the 2022 forward displayed a nice shooting touch from 3-point range. She shot it well off the catch and even knocked down a few off the dribble. She uses her height well on the defensive end for deflections and blocks.
Gabi Cook 5’6″ Troy: A solid guard who really impressed me with how well she rebounded in the championship game against Cardinal Ritter. She really battled inside against a much taller team and had her share. When I checked the stat box and saw that she had 15 boards, I was even more impressed. She would chase down loose balls and get extra possessions for her team.
