Continue ReadingOver the break, the Smokey Mountain Classic provided spectators an opportunity to see some of Tennessee’s best in the area. Lakeway Christian Academy was crowned champions in the Girls Gold Division, while Upperman was crowned champions in the Girls Blue Division. Both divisions included an impressive field of diverse talent. The Smokey Mountain platform provided schools from many different classifications to compete and go toe to toe, as they battled and clawed their way in many tight games. Girls traded buckets, made spectacular passes, and did the little things to help propel their team to victories. Teams were matched up pretty evenly, providing spectators in attendance an opportunity to see some talented young ladies compete and showcase their skill sets. Here are some standouts from this year’s Smokey Mountain Classic.
Raegyn Conley Raegyn Conley 6'0" | SF Baylor School | 2021 State TN (Sr. Baylor)– One of the top players in the state, Raegyn knows how to use her body to the best of her ability. She is long, rangy, and can shoot the ball at a high clip. She is a force on the boards and can get to the rim effortlessly.
Regan Hurst (Sr. Upperman)– This do it all player lead her team in many stat lines. Regan can shoot the 3 ball extremely well, but won’t hesitate to put the ball on the floor. She has excellent court awareness, which seems to her always being in the right place. She is not only an offensive threat but a pretty good defender as well.
Maggie Vick Maggie Vick 6'4" | PF Lakeway Christian Academy | 2021 State TN (Sr. Lakeway Christian Academy) -The 6’4 pf provided a spark on both ends of the court. Maggie controls the boards, along with an arsenal of post moves to finish around the basket. Maggie’s frame allows her to be a force near the basket. She can she the 15ft shot really well.
Bailey Burgess Bailey Burgess 5'5" | CG Bearden | 2022 State TN (Jr. TKA)– Fiery floor general who can handle the ball and shoot the 3 ball at a high clip. Bailey is the conductor of the potent TKA offense. She is also the spark on the defensive end that leads to many created turnovers her team gets.
Lashae Dwyer Lashae Dwyer 5'7" | PG Webb- Bell Buckle | 2021 State TN (Sr. The Webb School)– This dynamic player is one of the best combo guards in the state. Lashae has great ball-handling skills, a smooth jumper, and is an excellent defender. Lashae’s quickness allows her to create shots as well as get to the rim in a blink of an eye.
