The class of 2022 player rankings were recently released. These are some of the players that made the most movement up the rankings list.
Tonie Morgan Tonie Morgan 5'9" | PG FSUHS | 2022 State #18 Nation FL – 5’9 Guard – Florida State HS / Central Florida Elite
Prep Girls Hoops Florida Ranking: # 2 (was # 4)
Morgan moves up two spots from # 4 to # 2. She is an elite level point guard who has a chance to step on a college campus and potentially be a starter from day # 1. She recently narrowed her college choices down to 8 and has a ton of great options. Moving up 2 spots is a nod to how she is currently playing and her potential as a college player but within the top 10 of the class of 2022 you can make the argument for a lot of players as the class is loaded with talent and potential!
Sydney Shaw Sydney Shaw 5'9" | SG DME Academy | 2022 State FL – 5’6 Guard – American Heritage Delray/Miami Suns
Prep Girls Hoops Florida Ranking: # 5 (was # 8)
Shaw is putting up impressive numbers for American Heritage (Plantation) in her Junior year. She is a high-level scorer who can get it done in a variety of ways and when she gets it going, she scores in bunches and is near impossible to stop! She is aggressive with the ball in her hands, consistently putting pressure on her defender and opposing defenses to try and keep her out of the paint and away from the rim. When she has it going, she is a triple threat capable of knocking down the open 3, attacking off the dribble in the open court, while pulling up from mid-range and getting all the way to the rim!
Amiya Evans Amiya Evans 6'2" | PF DME Academy | 2022 State FL – 6’2 Forward – Tampa Bay Tech / Miami Suns
Prep Girls Hoops Florida Ranking: # 7 (was # 12)
Evans had a big-time spring / summer for the Miami Suns showcasing her ability to impact the game at both ends of the floor. There are very few players in the state that have a build like hers. At 6’2 she has a developed body that resembles that of a player already in college. She has great size, strength and athleticism and has the ability to play both inside and out. While she is capable of stepping out to the perimeter and showcasing her range, she is most impactful five feet and in. Her strength and size make her very challenging to move off the low block when she establishes low post position and rebounding position and her athleticism allows her to put it to the floor off the dribble from the high post and score in transition!
Stefanie Ingram Stefanie Ingram 5'7" | CG Lake Highland | 2022 State FL – 5’7 Guard – Lake Highland Prep / Hoop Dreams Elite
Prep Girls Hoops Florida Ranking: # 12 (was # 26)
Ingram makes one of the biggest jump in the class of 2022 moving up 14 spots. She had a solid spring/summer for Hoop Dreams Elite and is following that up in her Junior season running the point guard position for Lake Highland Prep helping lead them to a # 1 national ranking. The best way to describe Ingram game is she does not do any one specific thing exceptionally well, but she impacts that game in all aspects and is typically the most aggressive and physical player on the court who plays with a ton of energy and competitiveness. Her strong build allows her to take contact when putting the ball to the floor as a penetrator and when trying to finish at the rim and continue progressing forward. Her size and strength make defenders bounce off of her instead of vice versa. Defensively she is a pest for opposing ball handlers, applying consistent ball pressure in both the full court and half court.
Enjulina Gonzalez Enjulina Gonzalez 5'9" | CG Miami Christian | 2022 State FL – 5’9 Guard – Miami Christian / MBA
Prep Girls Hoops Florida Ranking: # 18 (was # 52)
Gonzalez makes a big jump as her long, versatile build and skill set makes for an intriguing prospect who we believe her best basketball player is still ahead of her. She is an efficient scorer who is shooting over 40% from the field for Miami Christian including shooting over 50% vs Blanche Ely, Miami Central, Dillard, Westminster Academy, and Archbishop McCarthy. While she is a capable three point shooter, she does most of damage as a slasher getting to the rim.
Paige McDonald Paige McDonald 5'11" | SF Cocoa HS | 2022 State FL – 5’11 Wing – Palm Bay / East Coast United
Prep Girls Hoops Florida Ranking: # 30 (was # 40)
McDonald is a wing/forward who has a long wing span and is extremely athletic. Her versatile skill set allows her to play multiple positions playing both inside and out. At 5’11 she can impact the game as a rebounder, shot blocker, finisher at the rim, as well as from perimeter with her shooting and ability to put it to the rim.
Kyla Abraham Kyla Abraham 6'5" | PF Smithfield (VA) | 2022 State FL – 6’5 Post – Choctaw / Team Elite (GA)
Prep Girls Hoops Florida Ranking: # 22 (was # 33)
Abraham joins Fatima Diakhate Fatima Diakhate 6'6" | C Montverde Academy | 2022 State FL as the class most intriguing center prospects. At 6’5 Abraham is very long and an extremely intimidating presence in the paint. She impacts the game as a rebounder and shot blocker and is developing her offensive skill set. Her size and length are what earns her the rise in rankings as to what she potentially can develop into as her coordination improves along with her strength, offensive production, and mobility.
