The Number One Ranked Player in Illinois’ Class of 2022, Brianna McDanielBriannaMcDaniel5'10" | CGKenwood | 2022State#13NationIL has had as big of a recruitment as any Illinois player in recent history.

McDaniel is a high-level Point Guard for her Kenwood HS and Chicago Hoops Express AAU teams, but can play off-the-ball with her wide range of skills.  She is a strong ball-handler who uses a combination of strength and speed to dominate the open floor and make plays around the rim. She is a terrific passer and can score from anywhere on the court at a high rate.

Dozens of Power 5 schools have made their pitch, but McDaniel has decided on Five that she will be focusing on for the remainder of her recruitment. She discussed each of them here.

Georgia: “I like the coaching staff and how hard and tough the team plays. When watching them play, I like how the Guards and Posts really play well together.”

Louisville: “I like the coaching staff and how confident and energetic they are. I like their style of play, how they really push the ball and play together as a team. I also like how great their communication is with the team and me.”

Mississippi State: “I enjoy the conversations I have with Coach McCray-Penson, talking about the direction and vision she has for the program. I like how they push the ball and the team chemistry I see while they are playing.”

Texas: “I like the coaching staff and their energy. I really like how the team plays aggressively and how they play with each other.”

Texas A&M: “I like the coaching staff and the style of play. I have talked to the team and I like how they describe the coach’s approach to teaching them. I have visited campus and really like their Veterinarian school.”

McDaniel is currently eyeing a commitment date in late July or early August.
