Coaches are scheming to throw different wrinkles into their gameplans. Different players are stepping up at crucial moments throughout the course of the game. Teams are eyeing the bigger picture and finishing strong down the stretch. This year we have seen many young ladies take big strides towards making a name for themselves. Tennessee has so much talent throughout the state, but these ladies are laying a strong foundation towards becoming household names for the next couple of years.
Lucy Benson (PG, ECS) – This 5’10 sharpshooter is a bucket for her team. She is averaging close to 20 pts per game. Lucy posses great ball-handling skills that compliment her ability to shoot the 3 ball. She has a quick first step that allows her to either pull up for a 15 footer or get to the rim. She has the ability to defend the length of the court as well. Look for her to become a household name throughout the state and the Memphis area as she continues to develop.
Amari Bonds Amari Bonds 5'9" | CG Union City | 2023 State TN (CG, Union City)– This 5’8 Combo guard is tough. She has a fluid jumper that can be launched at a moment’s notice. She can get to the basket and finish consistently. She has the ability to defend the lower block area, as well as guard quicker guards around the perimeter. Watching her would remind you of a Lebron James per se. She is dominant and packs a mighty punch.
Ni’kah Chesterfield (C, Oakland) -This 6’0 post player is an enforcer down low. She controls the boards on both ends of the floor while being a solid pick and roll option for her team. She plays well with her back to the basket, but can also shoot the 15ft mid-range shot. She is very tough and whatever team is her opponent that night, prepare for it to be a dog fight.
Aubrey Blakenship (SF, Green Hill)– This 6’0 wing player is a nice addition to the Green Hill team. Aubrey is an inside/out player that can do it all. She can shoot the 3 ball well, has a pretty jump shot, but yet can use her skill and athletic ability to get to the rim and finish. She knows how to use her body and can maneuver well around the block if need be. She does great stuff on the defensive end. Look for her to become even more dominant the more she plays.
Jada Harrison Jada Harrison 5'8" | PG Martin Westview | 2023 State TN (PG, Westview) – This 5’8 floor general is a special talent. She can shoot the 3ball at a high clip but can get to the rim with ease. She has a fluid release and won’t hesitate to pull it from deep. She is a good defender who helps lead her team in transition buckets. She posses great court awareness and facilitates the ball nicely.
Jazmin Williams ( PG, Knoxville Catholic)– 5’10 with a tall and lanky frame, Jamin has tremendous court vision. She sees the floor well and capitalizes in transition situations. She is a fierce slasher who can get to the rim or kick out to an open teammate. She can also deliver the ball in traffic, which is a very unique skill. She has a nice shot and won’t hesitate to shoot the occasional 3 ball or mid-range shots.
Abigail Johnson Abigail Johnson 6'0" | C Upperman | 2023 State TN (PF, Upperman) -This 6’0 post is an enforcer down low. On the defensive end, she is a rim protector and controls the boards. Offensively, she can get up and down the floor, which allows her teammates to feed her for easy transition buckets. She has great footwork, which she utilizes for easy buckets around the block area. Abigail can shoot the mid-range shot, and occasionally will step out and shoot the 3 ball. She will be the anchor for a talented Lady Bees team for the coming years.
