As the season starts, there will be some real difference makers on the list as well as girls that show some great potential for growth over the next 4 years. Let’s take a look at what we can expect when the Watch List is released.
RECOGNIZABLE NAMES
Emma Arico Emma Arico 5'6" | PG Detroit Country Day | 2024 State MI (PG, Detroit Country Day)
In the state of Michigan we all know the name ’Arico’, but you’re about to see the name in a whole new light. Emma Arico Emma Arico 5'6" | PG Detroit Country Day | 2024 State MI is going to make her name stand alone over the next 4 years.
STAR POWER
Na’kiya Bonner Na’kiya Bonner 5'6" | PG Detroit Edison | 2024 State MI (PG, Detroit Edison)
Most of us have seen the highlights. This young lady has all the makings, on and off the court, of an absolute star. She can do things with the basketball that most at her age, simply can’t do.
POWER IN THE PAINT
Sarah Rekowski Sarah Rekowski 6'3" | C Hartland | 2024 State MI (C, Hartland)
Surprise, surprise. Another talented post player on the horizon at Hartland. Rekowski will continue what appears to be a tradition of next level players coming from Livingston County.
ATHLETES ON THE WING
Maya Anderson Maya Anderson 5'9" | PG Detroit Cass Tech | 2024 State MI (SF, Detroit Cass Tech)
Anderson can make things happen off the wing. She’s bouncy under the rim and quick to get up and down the floor in transition. Anderson’s athleticism was very apparent in October at the Prep Girls Hoops Top 250.
LITTLE SISTERS
Devin Hagemann Devin Hagemann 5'6" | PG Detroit Edison | 2024 State MI (PG, Detroit Edison)
Devin’s older sister, Damiya Hagemann Damiya Hagemann 5'8" | PG Detroit Edison | 2021 State #35 Nation MI , is a frontrunner for Miss Basketball this season. Get ready for another 4 years of a dominating Hagemann at Detroit Edison.
Kate Stemmer Kate Stemmer 5'6" | SG Saline | 2024 State MI (SG, Saline)
Kate is the younger sister of Ella Stemmer Ella Stemmer 5'10" | SG Saline | 2021 State MI , who could have been a statewide Most Valuable Player in the playoffs last year. Kate has the potential to be in that same spot in a few years.
STAR IN THE MAKING
Brook Simpson Brook Simpson 5'10" | SG Saugatuck | 2024 State MI (SG, Belding)
Simpson took the Prep Girls Hoops Michigan Top 250 by storm this fall. She can D up on the perimeter or in the paint. She’s a 3 level scorer and has a natural feel for the game that’s at a rare level. Simpson will make a lot of noise over the next 4 years.
