Players from around the Buckeye state have come onto the scene strong through the month of December and caught the attention of coaches and PGH staff.
The next five days will be a breakdown of some of those players who should continue to improve as the high school season and travel ball season progresses.
Emily Noerr, 5-10 2023, Chardon
One thing that stuck out was her ability to create a variety of scoring opportunities for herself. Not only can she put the ball on the floor and get to the rim, she also has an effective midrange shot. At 5-10, she is very versatile and can knock down the perimeter shot also. It was the first time I had heard about Emily (pictured right) and was impressed. She can score with either hand at the rim. Gets her teammates involves, excellent court vision. Watch for this one to continue to progress.
Mahya Lindesmith, 5-7 2022, Hamilton Badin
Mahya (pictured left) moved in from St. Louis and has immediately established herself as one of the better players in the area, averaging 16 points and seven rebounds per game in December. The first thing that comes to mind when watching her play….. you better defend her everywhere on the court. She can let it fly from deep, and has a good shot from that range. Active player on defense who can create turnovers and finish in transition. Also can score from midrange. Outstanding court vision.
Serenity Castle, 5-10 2022, Springfield Catholic Central
Part of a very strong lineup at Central, Serenity (pictured right) had a very productive month of December. She has put together strong numbers in many categories. She is just under 16 points per game, seven rebounds, nearly four assists and she is in the top three from her conference in steals. Serenity can score from the perimeter well and does a great job seeing the floor. Good in transition also. She just continues to improve.
Chloe Butler, 5-7 2021, Trenton Edgewood
One of two kids from a very good Edgewood program who lands on this list today. Chloe (pictured left) averaged 14.5 points and eight rebounds per game in December for the undefeated Cougar squad. She is among the top five scorers and rebounders in the conference. She has a great combination of speed and strength, able to get to the rim and finish with either hand. She also has been effective from behind the arc shooting nearly 35% from the three.
Jessica Moore, 5-5 2023, Trenton Edgewood
Chloe’s teammate is also opening a lot of eyes this year and had a very effective month both scoring and rebounding. Defensively, she also has the duties of defending the opposing teams best player. She plays with a lot of passion and desire, and does everything well. During last month, it was clear that she has expanded her offensive game and looks to score more. She is also shooting well from behind the arc. (pictured right).
