Seeing games when we can, thanks to streaming, we were able to check out Paul VI take on Freedom (Woodbridge). Freedom came out the gates with some fight taking a 4-0 lead in with some sloppy play by the Panthers forcing coach Scott Allen to substitute the entire starting five. The Eagles had three pointers from seniors Keala Johnson and Fathia Akimyemi to extend the lead which they kept for the first five minutes of the game. Paul VI returned their starters and Lee Volker Lee Volker 5'11" | SF Paul VI | 2021 State VA went to work with nine straight points and stepped up defense that didn’t allow Freedom to get the ball past half court in six posessions. The defensive pressure continued to q 63-15 halftime lead and a final score of 110-26.

The Duke commit put up18 points,15 in the first half. She was disruptive defensively and showed three range as well as the ability to convert steals into scores.
Isa Bella Perkins Bella Perkins 5'8" | PG Paul VI | 2021 State VA – Point Guard – Paul VI
Surpisingly, Perkins is still uncommited and is a steal for programs in search of a combo that can do it all. She notched 12 points using her mid range game and long ball. She showed that she is excellent in transition making the right decisions.
Sophia Laylou – Guard – Freedom
Sophia had 8 points with all coming in the second half. She showed no quit despite the lopsided score as she had all but four of the Eagles points after the break.
Jaelyn Talley Jaelyn Talley 6'0" | SF Paul VI | 2022 State VA – Forward – Paul VI
Talley turned it on in the second half scoring all of her10 points after the break. She was pretty unstoppable on the glass cleaning up on mostly every missed shot.
Katherine Holler – Guard – Paul VI
Holler showed off her shooting range scoring 12 points all off of 3-pointers (4 total).
Fathia Akimyemi – Guard – Freedom
Fathia started off the game with a 3 pointer giving the Eagles a brief lead early in the game. She finished with 7 points and was the only other Freedom player to score in the second half.
Keala Johnson – Guard – Freedom
Keala scored 9 points all in the first half. She was a big part of the Eagles early run and lead that quickly faded.
