Continue ReadingJust like in the city of Memphis, some of the top girl’s basketball players in the Nashville city limits are sidelined due to the pandemic. These student-athletes are doing everything they can to stay in shape as they wait for the go-ahead to tip-off. From training with various trainers such as All-Around Game, Skill Wing, Hardwood Prospects, Basketball Development Academy, and many others, these players are refining their skills until they are given the green light.
Over the past few years, Metro Nashville has seen a jolt in girls’ basketball talent. Schools such as Hillsboro, East Nashville, Maplewood, Cane Ridge, and Pearl-Cohn, have seen talent throughout the years. Yet, these days, there are some big-name players who are benefitting from the foundations set by former student-athletes. These young ladies have continued to do their part in making Nashville a basketball city, one not just about the boys, but about the girls as well.
The list below is just a few of the top standouts in the Metro Nashville city limits.
Cori Allen (So. Hillsboro)– Big guard who can do it all. This dynamic player can handle the ball, shoot off the dribble, finish at the rim, defend 94ft, and control the boards. Cori can deliver passes through small windows and anticipate things among the best of them. Think female Magic Johnson when thinking of Cori.
Larose Morrow Larose Morrow 5'7" | PG Maplewood | 2021 State TN (Sr. Maplewood)– Floor general who can shoot the ball at a high clip and finish at the rim. Rose can be a lockdown defender, yet directing her team is one of her finest attributes.
Zoe Kerr Zoe Kerr 5'7" | SG Cane Ridge | 2022 State TN (Jr. Cane Ridge)– Hardworking left who can shoot off the dribble. Zoe is a gym rat who stays hungry for improvement. Shoots the ball at a high clip and brings tons of energy to her team.
Carleigh Wilson Carleigh Wilson 5'10" | CG Oakland | 2022 State TN (So. Hillsboro)– suffered an injury earlier in her career, but will come back even stronger. She is a gym rat who can get to the lane and finish at the rim. Shoots the ball well and poses as a mismatch for opposing teams.
Stock Risers
Jada Anthony Jada Anthony 5'6" | CG Cane Ridge | 2022 State TN (So. Cane Ridge)– This shifty combo guard can has a sweet mid-range game. Jada has the heart of a lion and can defend full court. She has the ability to get to the lane and finish at the rim. Think female Allen Iverson when thinking of Jada. She is the little engine that could, yet is an essential piece to the Cane Ridge ball team.
Kimora Lockett Kimora Lockett 5'7" | PG Hillsboro | 2023 State TN (So. Hillsboro)-Another combo guard who can shoot the ball well. Coach Stringfellow has a plethora of weapons and Kimora is one of her latest additions. Kimora is an excellent talent that will help propel the Lady Burros to victories for years to come.
Tasia Williamson (So. Hillsboro)– Big post player who is a beast around the rim. Has great footwork around the rim and can shoot the mid-range ball. Controls the board effortlessly on both ends of the court.
