Below is a list of sophomores that have had impressive performances this week.
Katie Reimer | New Auburn | 5’8 G
Reimer has great positional height as she can run the lead guard position or the secondary for this team. She does so well setting the tempo and playing at a high level the entire time she is on the floor. A two-way athlete, Reimer is consistent on both ends. Her ability to guard is exceptional. She showed some offensive skills this week in her team’s win over Bruce. Reimer scored 11 points.
Elizabeth Spang | Union Grove | 5’8 G
The sophomore led all scorers on Friday in a win over a very talented Waterford team. The guard shot lights out and was hot from each level on the floor. She’s an athletic player that can use her height to shoot over smaller defenders. Her perimeter shot is smooth and she releases it nice and high. She pushes the tempo on offense and can finish well in transition. She did a good job handling pressure and seemed comfortable dribbling on the perimeter. In the win over Waterford, Spang finished with 16 points.
Joey Perry | Winneconee | 5’6 PG
In the 59-50 victory over North Fond Du Lac, Perry finished with 17 points. She also added 7 rebounds and 4 steals. She’s an exciting, playmaking point guard that brings a lot of confidence to the court. She draws a lot of attention because she can handle the basketball so well and also find her teammates on a dime. She can hit tough shots off balance, and her runner/floater game is elite. She isn’t afraid of taller defenders in the lane and excels at dishing to the open man.
Emily Jaenke Emily Jaenke 5'10" | CG Fox Valley Luthern | 2023 State WI | Fox Valley Lutheran | 5’10 SG
Jaenke continues to raise her stock week after week. She’s a talented shooting guard who can knock it down with consistency. The sophomore went 4-4 from the three point line as well.
Jasmine James | Menomonee Falls | 5’7 G
Although her team fell short to a tough DSHA team this season, James did not shy away from putting on a stand out performance. She proved to have incredible court vision and speed to her game. The sophomore scored a light 10 points in the loss but showed glimpses of her ability to score much more. She picks her spots well and can create for herself.
Annamarie Aue Annamarie Aue 5'10" | PF Auburndale | 2023 WI | Auburndale | 5’9 G
An impressive scoring guard who is dynamic on the floor, Aue is exciting to watch. A player who continues to raise her stock, Aue adds something to her game each night. She continues to get more confident and comfortable handling pressure and pushing the tempo going coast to coast. In a 35-31 victory over a talented Stratford team, Aue stood out for her ability to handle pressure and make key baskets. She led her team with 12 points and shot 6-9 from the floor.
Karlyn Kirkman | Lake Holcombe | 5’6 PG
Kirkman has a very well developed shot and the ability to be a major spark plug for this team. She showed glimpses of crafty finish moves and ability to finish coast to coast. She’s smart, rarely forcing anything or causing turnovers. In a tough game against Cornell, Lake Holcombe came out on top with a 64-40 victory. Kirkman was a major reason why. Her court awareness and vision are impressive. Her ability to use her body inside and not shy away from intimidating post players is exciting. She grabbed 9 boards in the win this week as well as 5 steals and finished with 16 points.
KK Arnold KK Arnold 5'10" | PG Germantown | 2023 State #8 Nation WI | Germantown | 5’9 PG
The standout guard has had an incredible season this year. She’s an elite guard and the top of her class with the statistics to prove it. She’s a playmaking guard that can make a game for herself and her teammates better than anyone in the state. Her movement with and without the ball is impressive. She easily puts up huge numbers each time she steps on the floor. Being face guarded or double teamed does not bother Arnold, she finds a way to score. On Friday in a win against DSHA, Arnold scored 26 points in the 72-54 win.
