Hugoton
Jordyn Beard Jordyn Beard 6'1" | C Hugoton | 2021 State KS , 6’1″, C, 2021 – Beard dominated inside with rebounding (11) and scoring (10) but what also stood out was her defensive positioning and quickness when opposing posts moved to the perimeter. She also passed and handled the ball well. She also finished with 4 steals, 3 blocked shots and a assist.
Mikyn Hamlin Mikyn Hamlin 5'8" | CG Hugoton | 2023 State KS , 5’8″, SG, 2023 – Hamlin is fast, has good hands, and attacks the rim with physicality, elevation, and extension. She will make the hard take inside. Hamlin lead all scorers against Southeast of Saline with 19 points. She also had 3 assists, 2 blocked shots, 2 turnovers, and a steal.
Mckenna Hamlin Mckenna Hamlin 5'3" | CG Hugoton | 2021 State KS , 5’3″, SG, 2021 – Hamlin was very disruptive defensively on the perimeter due to her quick hands and closeouts. She shot 40% from three point land, burying 2, on the way to 8 points and collected 3 steals.
Gianna Vos Gianna Vos 5'9" | SG Hugoton | 2023 State KS , 5’9″, PG/SG, 2023 – With Vos’ size, length, perimeter shooting ability, and physicality she presented a huge challenge for Kingman. She ended with 17 points (2/6 from three), 5 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 turnovers, and a steal. Her first step is quick and she attacks the rim with athleticism and extension. Vos also knows how to draw contact to get to the line for an and-one. A player that cannot be left open on the perimeter, especially the corner.
Hutchinson Trinity
Lauren Galliher, 6’0″, PF – Galliher’s length was a factor by altering shots when opponents got into the lane off the bounce and in gathering rebounds. Of the 34 available defensive rebounds she grabbed 9 of them, for a total of ten. She also was credited for two blocked shots.
Becca Hammersmith Becca Hammersmith 5'7" | SF Hutchinson Trinity | 2021 State KS , 5’8″, SG – After a sluggish first half on the offensive end her perimeter shooting would help rally the Celtics to within two points deep into the second half. Going 3/6 from behind the arc she would finish with 15 points, 3 steals, and 3 turnovers.
Hayley Hughes Hayley Hughes 5'9" | PG Hutchinson Trinity | 2021 State KS , 5’10”, PG – Despite 6 turnovers Hughes finished with a team high 18 points, including 6/7 from the line. She also racked up 4 assists. Hughes is a floor leader with strong handles who can create shots off the bounce. She consistently beat Southeast of Saline defenders and the Trojans had great difficulty preventing her from scoring once she got into the lane off the bounce or if she caught an entry pass. Hughes is a good combination of size, strength, scoring athleticism, and creativity. Her ability to score from the perimeter sets up her inside and finishing game.
Kingman
Kayla Belt, 5’7″, CG, 2022 – Belt cut well, showed transition speed and defensive quickness, hustled, and boxed well on the perimeter. She did a great job of getting the ball down the floor passing after a Hugoton made shot. She finished with 2 points, 4 rebounds, and an assist with only 2 turnovers.
Anna Livingston, 5’9″, CG/SF, 2021 – Livingstone scored 4 points (2/3 from the floor), gathered 4 rebounds, and picked up a steal and a assist while also having 3 turnovers. Livingstone showed good strength on both ends of the floor. Livingstone’s strength, quickness, and speed stood out. She boxed well, made crisp cross court passes in transition and the half court, and also jumped passing lanes.
Alex Schreiner, 5’7″, PG, 2022 – Shreiner stood out for the second day in a row. She showed physical strength on both ends of the floor competing for rebounds as well as with her good scoring looks inside. In a game that got out of hand quickly once the second quarter started she scored 5 points and picked up 3 rebounds and a steel. Of the 28 team turnovers she only contributed 2 of them. She continued to show energy on both ends of the floor vision in transition.
Southeast of Saline
Lexi Jacobson, 5’7″, CG, 2024 – In just over 13 minutes of play Jacobson racked up 14 points on 6/12 shooting and 2/2 from the free throw line. She moved well into space and consistently and effectively flashed through Trinity’s zone. While she has a slender build, she was quick, shot quickly off the catch, and got out on transition well.
Karsyn Schlesener Karsyn Schlesener 5'6" | PG Southeast of Saline | 2022 State KS , 5’7″, PG, 2022 – Schlesener is a consistent scoring threat and showed good transition speed and vision. A three point threat, she can split defenders on basket attacks, and use good head and shoulder fakes and her quickness to get into the lane. Her 4 turnovers is shaded by the 12 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 assists she racked up.
Aliana Yianakopulos, 5’7″, W, 2022 – Yianakopulos’ perimeter shooting, including 3/4 from beyond the arc, was key to breaking open their game with Trinity late. Finishing with 11 points, she also picked up 4 steals and 2 assists as the Trojans benefited 25 Celtic turnovers.
