A Look at Recently Seen Post Players
As I mentioned in my previous post about recently seen guards, I got the opportunity this past week to get into the gym and enjoy a pair of competitive, post-season meaningful games. As always, I see the familiar and discover new players to have on the radar. Enjoy the look below of who I saw.
Ella Anciaux Ella Anciaux 6'4" | C Kapaun Mt. Carmel | 2021 State KS , 6’4″, C, Kapaun Mt. Carmel, 2021 – This Shocker alum finally got to see the Wichita State signee play. Anciaux has great size and strength and she was always swarmed when she tried to do anything with the ball. Routinely battling double and triple teams, she used her smarts and interior moves to create shots, hit her partner in the post Jacobson out of the high-low game, and to set her perimeter teammates up. She has solid north to south speed, passes well, and weathers constant contact well.
Grace Hendrickson, 6’0″, SF, Pretty Prairie, 2021 – While Hendrickson needs improvement as an interior defender she has the physical tools to get there. She provides a offensive presence in transition, in the mid-range, and behind the three point line especially because she shoots quickly off the catch. Hendrickson has good length and speed.
Jennifer Jacobs Jennifer Jacobs 6'0" | SF Kapaun Mt. Carmel | 2021 State KS , 6’2″, PF, Kapaun Mt. Carmel, 2021 – Benedictine College is getting a complete player who will continue to get better. She plays physical, has good strength, has strong block moves, crashes the boards well, scores at all three levels, and has the quickness and smarts to defend on the perimeter well.
Jalyiah Manual, 6’0″, PF, Wichita East, 2024 – Manual is one to watch develop in the coming years. She has a good frame, competes inside on both ends of the floor, and has good transition speed.
Samantha Ramsey, 6’0″, PF, Central Christian, 2022 – In the stretch four category Ramsey will be one to watch. She finishes solidly off the power dribble on both sides of the block and has a growing back-to-basket game. Ramsey also has a good frame and solid transition speed. A competitive defender, she walls up well against basket drives.
Akeir Scales Akeir Scales 6'1" | PF Wichita East | 2022 State KS , 6’1″, C, Wichita East, 2022 – Scales did a great job of holding her ground and keeping Anciaux in front of her off the catch. She has good, but not Anciaux level, strength and competes for rebounds. Scales has great hops and is very, very long.
Aly Lambert Aly Lambert 6'0" | PF Central Christian | 2022 State KS , 6’2″, C, Central Christian, 2021 – With her size and length Lambert is a deterrent around the basket. She also runs well. Around the basket Lambert has the quickness and strength to create shots out of back-to-basket situations. Elevating more would make her an even more lane controlling presence with her rebounding and shot blocking.
McKenna Vogl McKenna Vogl 5'11" | PF Pretty Prairie | 2022 State KS , 5’10”, PF, Pretty Prairie, 2022 – Vogl continues to grow in her completeness. She showed three point range and both face-up and back-to-basket games. Vogly is also a strong rebounder who boxes and jumps to the ball well. She also is a good shot blocker and has good transition speed.
Tiana Winn Tiana Winn 6'0" | SF Wichita East | 2022 State KS , 6’0″, SF/PF, Wichita East – Hit mid-range jumpber. Doesn’t hold the ball high. Worked harder defensively after Scales fouled out mid-way through fourth quarter.
