After a little bit of a delay, Ripley and Keota tipped off a very entertaining game that saw Ripley come out on top 44-34. The second game saw undefeated Vanoss retain their unblemished record with a 95-43 win over Liberty.
Standouts
Jaida Cargil | 5-7 SF | Liberty | 2022 | Hudl
Cargil led her Liberty squad in scoring with 16, scoring six in the first quarter – the only quarter that her squad won, 14-9. She played outstanding defense, but the high-powered Vanoos offense was just too much for her squad. Jaida is a silent assassin. She doesn’t talk much, just goes about her business. Her business is running the Liberty offense. She has absolutely ankle-breaking handles, literally dropping her defender several times in one-on-one battles. She goes hard to the rim, drawing contact and getting to the line. She is a great free-throw shooter, honestly, she’s a great shooter from everywhere. Her shot is smooth and fluid with plenty of touch. Cargil is a small school star and coaches need to get to Mounds to see her in person.
Emily Wilson | 5-10 G | Vanoss | 2021 | Hudl
The East Central commit is an absolute scoring star. She has very good size and uses her body well to fight through traffic and finish at the rim. “Three-level scorer” is absolutely the right term for Wilson. She scored 25, with one three-pointer and nine from the free throw line. She plays tough defense, deflecting numerous in-bounds passes. She’s got good handles and finishes consistently inside, while drawing contact. Head coach Matt Cole has a very good young team at ECU and they will be flat out dangerous when Emily joins them next year.
Erica Terrell | 5-8 G | Ripley | 2021 | Hudl
Terrell is an absolute athletic freak – in the best way possible. The former 100m Hurdles State Champion has a tremendous dribble-drive. She showed very good vision at the point with pinpoint passes to the open teammate. Erica has very good handles and does a good job of getting to the rim, keeping her eyes up and staying ahead of the double-team with great passing. She has very good size and length for a guard. Terrell holds an offer from a JuCo here in Oklahoma and other coaches don’t have much longer to see her in action. Make your way to the playoffs and get a look at Ripley. You will not regret it.
