Both Clearview and Kingsway are at the top of the standings and a win for either side would be monumental as we near the end of the season. Kingsway came away with the win in a hard fought game 40-30, here are the players that stood out the most.
st Star: Olivia Ettore, Kingsway: Both teams struggled out of the gate but it was Kingsway who was able to get an early advantage in the first half thanks in part to the play of Olivia Ettore. The junior ended the night with 12 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and proved to be the go to player that Kingsway needed. On this night she did it all, scoring rebounding in crowds and getting her teammates involved through passing. This was just a really nice all around game for Ettore and a performance she can continue to build on as we reach the end of the season.
nd Star: Emma Steidle, Clearview: Emma Steidle did everything she could to keep Clearview in this game, and while it wasn’t enough in the end she proved to be a big time player. Steidle ended with a game high 13 points, adding 3 rebounds and 2 assists to her final stat line. She was a threat both inside and outside, making two shots each from in the paint and past the three point arc. She was everywhere in this game and showed Clearview that they have a long term piece to build around considering she’s only a sophomore.
rd Star: Sarah Cancila, Kingsway: None of Cancila’s numbers jump off the page in this game but once again the senior showed that she is a great rotation piece that every good team needs. Cancila ended the night with 8 points and 3 rebounds, but the most influential part of her game in this one was her ability to get to the free throw line consistently. She made four free throws and made the opposing defense work constantly.
th Star: Ana Pellecchia, Clearview: Players who know what role they have on a team and are able to fill it to the best of their abilities are crucial. Ana Pellecchia found her role as a catch and shoot three point shooter and has filled it admirably. Against Kingsway she scored 8 points and added 1 rebound with two shots from deep. In this one she wasn’t the go to scorer but was always looked at as a safe option when left open from the outside.
th Star: Haley Phalines, Kingsway: In a close game like this one was Kingsway needed to rely heavily on rotation players. Haley Phalines stepped up and showed she can be a jack of all trades but filling the entire stat sheet. On the night she finished with 6 points, 8 rebounds and 2 assists, helping the team in several different areas. Not every player can take the role they’re given and really buy all in to it, Phalines has and it has helped out Kingsway immensely.
