Tatum Bowen Tatum Bowen 5'9" | SF 1 Of 1 Prep Academy | 2023 State NC | Weddington | W
Bowen is one of the most consistent players in her class. She can score at all three levels, and she creates her own offense by playing tight defense. She is very effective in Weddington’s press jumping into passing lanes and scoring in transition. She is productive in set offenses as well as she knows where to move on the court to be the most productive. She can score from behind the arc or pull up for a jump shot closer to the basket. She is an effective rebounder as she seems to read where the ball will come off the basket.
Reagan Iovino Reagan Iovino 5'4" | CG Cuthbertson | 2023 State NC | Cuthbertson | G
Iovino is a sure shooter, and she proved that right out the gates her freshman season. As she continues in high school, she is showing off her IQ more and more knowing where to get the ball to her teammates and where she can move to show off other jump shots. Her aggressive defense just keeps getting better and better as she does not shy away from contact making it difficult for her opponents to get by her. Iovino handles the ball well, too, showing she is versatile at the guard position.
Olivia McElroy | Hough | F
McElroy has good height on her that she uses to score all over the court. She can score inside, or she can move outside and even behind the three point line to show off her shot. Her defense may be her biggest strength, though, as she is consistently assigned to guarding the opponents’ best players. She uses her length and agility to block shots and prevent passes from getting to their destinations.
Mia Xerras Mia Xerras 5'6" | CG Myers Park | 2023 State NC | Myers Park | G
The ball handles by Xerras makes onlookers think that she is older than she is. She is certainly using her skills on the basketball court to be a leader for her teams even at such a young age. She knows how to get around opponents driving to the basket or pulling defenders towards her to dish the ball to her teammates. She pushes the ball up the court, and she knows when to pull up for a jump shot or slow it down to get a play started. Her high IQ translates well to defense knowing how to grab steals to take it the other direction.
Cassidy Geddes | Newton-Conover | PG
Geddes is shooting above 50% from behind the three point line, and that certainly isn’t her only skill set. Her quick release when shooting makes it nearly impossible to guard. Stepping up this season for her high school team after they lost some seniors, she has shown that she belongs in the elite high school player category in this region. She has an arsenal of moves that allow her to create separation from her defenders like hesitation moves, pump fakes, and crossovers to name a few. She does a great job turning steals on defense into fast break points.
Sydney Gueterman | Ardrey Kell | SF
Gueterman made immediate impacts for her high school using her height to make plays all over the court. She can cause problems for opponents in the paint grabbing steals or causing blocks. Additionally, she fights for every rebound. On the other end of the court, she can score at all three levels. She scores through contact close to the basket, and she can shoot from behind the arc finding multiple ways to score a three point play. She has good footwork and ball handling that helps her be successful working in the post.
Ava Davis | Myers Park | SF
Davis is someone who can take the ball from end to end with ease. She grabs rebounds and immediately pushes it up the court, or she can jump into passing lanes to grab steals running it the other direction. She doesn’t have to go all the way to the basket, though, as she has a nice outside shot that she shows off. She certainly doesn’t shy away from contact either as she can battle through it to score a basket, and she knows how to take charges preventing others from scoring on fast breaks.
Jade Washington | Parkwood | F
Washington uses every bit of her strength to muscle her way on the court whether she is driving the ball scoring against contact or she is fighting for a rebound. She has some good speed on her as she can jump in front of a pass grabbing the steal as if she is coming out of nowhere. She can also push the ball up the court end to end herself scoring in transition or finding an open teammate. Washington has some good moves with the ball, too, to create separation between her and her opponent.
Aubrie Snyder | East Burke | SF
Snyder is a strong force inside using her strength and footwork to have her way in the paint. She bullies people around making sure she is the one who will grab the rebound. She also does a great job sealing off her opponent on offense to get the entry pass and score. Opponents are going to need to put their strongest player against her if they think they have a chance of stopping her.
Amanda Sacoto | Cuthbertson | C
Sacoto makes sure she has her way in the paint, especially when it comes to going up for rebounds. Opponents better be on point with boxing her out as she is very good at scoring off of second chance opportunities. She uses her length to cause problems on defense by grabbing steals and knocking the ball away. She is a force inside making blocks preventing her opponents from scoring against her.
