The defending WCAC champions faced off at home against Elizabeth Seton and things didn’t quite go as planed. Despite losing a lot of firepower to graduation over the last couple of years, Bishop McNamara still has a lot in their tank. Seton has been right on the cusp of the upper half of the league with annual upsets of the top teams. This year they didn’t disappoint doing the damage in the decisive 20-12 second quarter taking a seven point halftime lead. The Roadrunners fired three pointers from all over led by Regina Walton Regina Walton 5'2" | PG Elizabeth Seton | 2022 State MD who had three 3-pointers. In the end Elizabeth Seton walked away with a 73-67 victory on the Mustangs home court.
Regina Walton Regina Walton 5'2" | PG Elizabeth Seton | 2022 State MD – Elizabeth Seton
Walton was letting it fly from long range finishing with a game high 19 points, she was a difference maker on the defensive end as well playing the passing lanes. The range in her shot made things difficult for the Mustangs to cover.
Madison McDaniel – Bishop McNamara
The freshman, showed poise knocking down shots from the field and finding open teammates in her first ever WCAC game. She made good decisions on the floor in transition and should only get better as time goes on.
Sydni Smith – Elizabeth Seton
Sydni scored from three and also showed strength inside grabbing boards and finishing. She finished the game with 8 points, 2 boards and a blocked shot.
Jazmyn Gaines-Burns – Elizabeth Seton
Jazmyn had 18 points and also had the deep ball going. She made it difficult for the Mustangs to key on one player or even double as she was just as much of a threat as on the floor as Walton.
Gia Cooke Gia Cooke 5'9" | PG Bishop McNamara | 2022 State #50 Nation MD – Bishop McNamara
Gia was a former Roadrunner and had success their before her transfer, unfortunately transfer rules cut her season short last year any she never got to suit up against her former team. Gia played a solid all around game running some point as well as the two and three, she will be looking forward to the rematch to get back at her former team.
