The Haddonfield Bulldogs got a good thing going in the Colonial Conference and that success has continued in a big way in 2021 as HMHS is 9-1 and leads the Liberty Division with an 8-0 record in conference play.
Haddonfield’s lone loss came against arguably the best program in the region, a 49-27 defeat at Cherokee on Wednesday.
Take that out of the equation, and this team is one that has averaged 52.2 PPG in wins and has kept its opponent to 35 points or fewer in each of those nine games.
The Bulldogs are led by one of the best pure scorers in the region and possibly the state in senior Keegan Douglas, who has averaged 20.8 PPG this season and recorded six 20+ point games.
Douglas is among the most elite scorers in Haddonfield girls basketball history, with well over 1500 points under her belt and 200 this season.
She’s also averaging 2.3 made threes a game, her highest average of her four seasons as a Bulldog.
Haddonfield is a senior-heavy team in 2021, led by Douglas and McKenzie Blake, who is averaging a shade over 8.2 PPG.
Junior Sara Smith will be taking over the reins next season, currently third on the team in scoring with 6.3 PPG this season. She’s helped to provide balance to Haddonfield’s offense, which primarily runs through Douglas at the point.
Haddonfield’s run of dominance in South Jersey has lasted since the 2014-15 season as the Bulldogs haven’t lost more than seven games in a season since.
With a win against Shawnee this Saturday, the Bulldogs would wrap up another dominant season with an impressive 10-1 (.909) record to once again pace the Colonial Conference.
Consistency is the name of the game and Haddonfield is as consistently good as it gets in New Jersey high school girls basketball.
While there will be some question marks going into the 2021-22 season, the Bulldogs will fill any voids left and will keep the good times rolling in South Jersey.
