Manasquan Continues to Impress: In a top-15 matchup between Manasquan and Manchester Township, the Warriors came away with an impressive 88-73 victory on Tuesday. It was a high-scoring affair with a ton of contributors on both sides. For Manasquan, four players hit double figures, and the Warriors showed why they are so balanced as a team. Mary Elizabeth Donnelly knocked down three 3-pointers and went for 21 points, Brooke Hollawell Brooke Hollawell 5'6" | PG Manasquan | 2022 State NJ added 17 points, Georgia Heine Georgia Heine 5'10" | SG Manasquan | 2022 State NJ buried four 3-pointers on the way to 16 points and Allison Waters hit five triples for 15 points. Manchester Township star Destiny Adams Destiny Adams 6'3" | SF Manchester | 2021 State #26 Nation NJ had her usual type of performance with 26 points, 11 rebounds, four assists, four steals and two blocks, and Devyn Quigley added 18 points and nine boards. Manasquan (4-1) pulled away behind a 27-15 fourth quarter. It was Manchester Township’s first loss of the year, now at 5-1.
Clearview Takes Down Kingsway: Clearview stayed perfect on the season at 5-0 following Tuesday’s 42-35 victory over Kingsway. Clearview held a 24-19 second-half advantage. Emma Steidle and Ana Pellecchia combined for 27 points for the winners.
Trenton Catholic Passes Test: Trenton Catholic survived its first test of the season, holding off Stuart Day, 60-55, on Tuesday. Angelica Velez Angelica Velez 5'6" | PG Webb Bell-Buckle | 2023 State TN put in 16 points for Trenton Catholic. Other notables for the team included Aurora Almon with 11 rebounds, Aaylah Del Rosario with 15 points and seven rebounds and Zoe Brooks Zoe Brooks 5'8" | CG St. John Vianney | 2023 State NJ with 12 points, five rebounds and five assists. Nia Melvin Nia Melvin 5'9" | PG Stuart Day | 2021 State NJ led Stuart Day with 21 points and six assists, Ariel Jenkins Ariel Jenkins 6'4" | C Stuart Day | 2021 State NJ chipped in 16 points and Laila Fair Laila Fair 6'3" | PF Stuart Day | 2021 State NJ grabbed 10 rebounds.
Paul VI Stays Undefeated: Paul VI (4-0) used full-court pressure to take down Bishop Eustace, 60-41, Tuesday evening. The team was able to force turnovers and Hannah Hidalgo Hannah Hidalgo 5'7" | PG Paul VI | 2023 State NJ led the charge offensively with 21 points. Katie Kempter netted 25 points behind five 3-pointers for Bishop Eustace.
Ramapo Edges Immaculate Heart in Showdown: In another top-15 tilt on Tuesday, Ramapo (4-0) slipped past Immaculate Heart, 37-34, in a Bergen County matchup. Lexi Wolfe’s layup with 29.2 seconds remaining lifted Ramapo to victory. Lauren Achter Lauren Achter 5'7" | CG Ramapo | 2021 State NJ led Ramapo with 12 points, 13 rebounds, two blocks and two steals, and Madison Schiller Madison Schiller 5'8" | CG Ramapo | 2022 State NJ added nine points, five rebounds and four assists. Savannah Nowak had a block on the game-tying 3-point attempt in the final stages. Immaculate Heart (4-1) saw 10 points from Gina Gaccione.
Gill St. Bernard’s Continues to Cruise: Behind senior sensation and Northwestern commit Caileigh Walsh, Gill St. Bernard’s continues to look the part as one of the top teams in Somerset County and in the state. The Knights dominated Ridge, 70-46, Tuesday. Walsh had 14 points, 11 rebounds and four blocks, and Ella Fajardo Ella Fajardo 5'4" | PG Gill St. Bernard's | 2021 State NJ led the way with 21 points. Walsh has opened the season with three straight double-double performances in Gill’s 3-0 start. She is averaging 18 points and 12 rebounds.
