The 2021 class wasn’t privileged to much of a grassroots season between their Junior and Senior years, therefore many of them haven’t received as much college attention as prospects in years past. I wanted to take the time to point out the remaining uncommitted prospects in the 2021 class position by position, while highlighting five from each position group at the bottom of each article. Below is a look at the 34 small forward prospects who, to the best of my knowledge, remain uncommitted as far as a college commitment goes. There will be follow-up articles highlighting additional uncommitted prospects from the remaining position groups to follow very soon.

After beginning her Junior year incredibly strong, Kylee unfortunately injured her knee midway through the 2019-2020 season, thus missing the Summer/Fall of 2020 as well. She returned this Winter from the jump, and while she might not have immediately been 100% of herself, she continued to round into form throughout this season. She is a fairly strong, long-armed, and skillful wing. She does a nice job of handling the ball and initiating the offense, she’s an on-target passer, plus she can attack the basket North/South and find open teammates at the last minute. She has some touch from the perimeter, but it’s her natural overall feel for the game that I think stands out when you watch her.

Mercedes has put up numbers for four years now, and she earned her way onto the 2020 Junior All-Star team because of it. She is a long, fluidly athletic wing who understands how to put the ball in the basket. She can shoot it from the 3-point line or in the mid-range game, plus she slices comfortably to the basket and can finish at odd angles. Mercedes plays with a nice motor, she’s a pursuing rebounder and has a nose for the ball, but she also does a nice job of using her length and quickness at the defensive end of the floor, creating deflections or causing errant passes by opponents. I think she’s still a little unknown, due to her limited visibility to college coaches over the years.

Kyra is one of the most talented kids who still remains uncommitted in the 2021 class. She’s another one who unfortunately injured her knee during the Fall of 2019, so she missed the entire 2019-2020 season for the Lady Norse. She has a long, wiry strong frame, she has good speed and quickness, plus she’s a jumping-jack who seems to bounce around the floor with ease. If there’s one area for her to work on, especially at her height, it would be her perimeter shooting. But she can sit down and defend guards and wings equally well, and she forces a lot of turnovers. Plus, when she wants to attack the basket, whether for scores or rebounds, it’s tough to keep her out of the lane.

Da’Naria is another talented athlete, and even though she’s in Indianapolis, I feel like she’s a bit overlooked. She has great length, she can run and jump, and she seems to always play at about 100 mph. Da’Naria plays a number of roles for her team, and I’m not even sure what to say in terms of positioning for the next level. She is probably best in the mid-post, where she can knock down the 15-footer or use her athleticism to explode to the basket in one dribble. She can take smaller defenders to the block and score over them. But she’s also starting to handle the ball a lot more in transition and act as a playmaker, though she could be a bit more efficient at that. No matter what, she’ll give effort.

When I first saw Megan as a Sophomore, I thought she was a solid basketball player with potential. She was more of a spot-up shooter at that time, but she has always been a nice all-around athlete with some length and wiry strength. This season, however, she looked much more aggressive off the bounce. She was consistently in attack mode on the catch, and she blended nicely with a couple of Freshmen, one of which was her younger sister. Megan remains a capable perimeter shooter, but her transformation from shooter to scorer has really improved her game, plus she’s making more plays for others as well. I think some small college will be really happy if/when Megan commits to them.
