This follows on the heals at a look at unsigned post players and small forwards. Appearing before the next Kansas refresh and the last refresh of the 2021 class, these players are among those going to be added to the final rankings. The previous articles in the series covered point guards, wings and small forwards, and power forwards and centers. In early January shooting guards were covered ahead of the series. As before, statistics are primarily drawn from MaxPreps and KC High School Hoops. Other credible and transparent sources may be drawn upon as well.
Carlee Arnold Carlee Arnold 4'10" | PG Haven | 2021 State KS , 5’4″, PG, Haven – The solidly built Arnold sets great screens and makes quick, catchable entry passes with a talent for laying in the bounce pass to back cutting teammates and hitting her posts on the opposite block. She has solid three point range, jump shooting capability, and good controlled handles.
Brooke Brawner, 5’7″, CG, Haven – Brawner is lanky, boxes well, and is arguably the Wildcats’ best three point shooter. I would like to see her improve her passing versus half court pressure.
Macy Fairchild, 5’3″, SG, Waverly – Fairchild is a high IQ lefty with the ability to find seams in zones to create. She is also a solid three point shooter.
Hattie Fisher, 5’4″, SG, Olpe – Fisher is a strong three point shooter that was a Lyon County league honorable mention selection in 2020. It is not uncommon to knock down five or more per game.
Holly McCormick, 5’6″, SG, Olathe Northwest – McCormick is regarded as a hi IQ player and strong three point shooter. She is also a solid defender.
Evan Peschel, 5’7″, W, Marysville – Peschel has good length and quickness. Fast with the ball, she is able to go end-to-end off a steal to finish under pressure.

, 5’8″, SG, Pittsburg – After being away from the game for a year Petty is helping drive the Purple Dragons to success they have not seen in several years. The former Southeast Kansas League first team all-leaguer averaged 16 points and 3 steals. This season she her quickness, speed, and perimeter shooting have stood out. Petty also has a quick release on her shot.
Rylee Rusk Rylee Rusk 5'8" | SG Wellington | 2021 State KS , 5’8″, CG, Wellington – Another all-league player back after being away from the game a year is Rusk. She was first team Ark Valley Chisholm Trail League Div IV selection. She was also selected Kansas Basketball Coaches Association 4A honorable mention Has a solid all-around game and is a three point threat. Is quick enough to defend opposing teams’ point guards, plays four positions including point guard, and is the team’s best passer. Ability to get shots off quickly boosts her as a perimeter threat as well as when finishing after beating defenders off the dribble. Needs to increase her vertical, control on the drive and consistency with the 8′-10′ jumper.
Paeton Smith, 5’5″, SG, Minneapolis – Smith’s recent play against Valley Heights was notable as she scored points and had 4 steals versus 2 turnovers. A strong moment that captured her offensive abilities in a nutshell was beating a defender off the dribble to create a score from the left wing.
Allaina Spencer, 5’4″, SG, Sumner Academy – Spencer brings a lift to the Sabres with her speed, deep three point range and her handles.
