Which Players Made Our Second-Team All-State Squad?
In this article:
As this very strange season heads into the final week of play, we have seen enough on the court to start handing out some awards.
Here are the five players who make up our second-team all-state squad.
Christina Dalce Christina Dalce 6'2" | SF Rutgers Prep | 2021 State NJ , Rutgers Prep: If you judge her strictly by her numbers, you may think the Villanova commit had a down season. That’s far from the truth. With the rugged post player throwing her weight around, she often found herself resting on the bench in the second half of Prep blowout victories.
Hannah Hidalgo Hannah Hidalgo 5'7" | PG Paul VI | 2023 State NJ , Paul VI: Simply put, she is the best defender in New Jersey. Her gaudy scoring numbers make you think she’s a scoring machine, but the guard creates points off of turnovers better than anyone. She is the heart and soul for a Paul VI squad that didn’t back down from anyone this season.
Paulina Paris, Saddle River Day: The transfer from New York was as good as advertised in her first season in the Garden State. Her ability to shoot from distance and score points often resembled something from a video game.
Alexa Therien Alexa Therien 6'1" | SF Cherokee | 2021 State NJ , Cherokee: The Boston University commit is the biggest reason that Cherokee was once again a dominant South Jersey team. She served as the anchor on defense, was a beast on the boards and did most of her scoring around the basket.
Caleigh Walsh, Gill St. Bernard’s: The 6-3 stretch four put her squad on her back this season. She was the face of the program and backed it up with her strong play. She can knock down the long ball and score in the post. The Northwestern commit was a double-double machine.
