Here are the five players who make up our third-team all-state squad.
Saniah Caldwell Saniah Caldwell 5'8" | PG Saddle River Day | 2022 State #52 Nation NJ , Saddle River Day: SRD likes to play fast and usually it’s Caldwell pushing tempo. She teamed with Paulina Paris to form the highest scoring duo in New Jersey. Although she is known for big scoring games like the 30 points she dropped on Montclair Immaculate, she is also capable of big assist games, too.
Katie Hill Katie Hill 6'0" | SF St. John Vianney | 2021 State NJ , St. John’s Vianney: The Richmond-bound forward is one of the smartest players in the state. She is another coach on the court and always seems to make the right play. She lit up Saddle River Day for 23 points and nine rebounds and gave Paul VI 22 and 10.
Tara Johnson Tara Johnson 5'9" | SG University | 2021 State NJ , University: The point guard is a winner. Need someone to lock up the other team’s best player? Check. Need a big bucket? Check. Need a key offensive or defensive rebound? Check. Johnson always seems to know what University needs and provides it at the right time.
Brynn McCurry Brynn McCurry 6'1" | PF Sparta | 2023 State NJ , Sparta: Is there anything the 6-1 banger can’t do? Sparta was one of the top teams in New Jersey and obviously McCurry was the reason why. Steals, blocks, assists, rebounds and buckets – she does it all. She posted 23 points, 20 rebounds and 10 assists in a win against North Warren.
Madison Schiller Madison Schiller 5'8" | CG Ramapo | 2022 State NJ , Ramapo: She rebounds as well as any point guard in the state, can score and is unselfish. Her IQ is through the roof and the 5-8 junior went over 1,000 points for her career this season. She averaged almost 10 rebounds per game and is a disruptor on defense, too.
