In the COVID-19 2020 world we are living in, video and highlight films have become more and more prominent and important. We will be posting evaluations from the videos weekly. We have got a number of highlight videos in February, here is volume 2 for this month’s youtube eval series.
2021 Ahliah Brown Ahliah Brown 5'7" | SG Raines | 2021 State FL (Raines HS) 5’7 Guard
Small, strong, aggressive scoring guard who can score in a variety of ways. She is a downhill penetrator who attacks the rim aggressively. She has 3-point range with good form and a quick release, and she is very good in the open floor and in transition. Defensively she is just as aggressive running through passing lanes and pressuring ball handlers. Led Raines High School with 16.4 points per game to go along with 3.2 steals per game helping them to a 19-6 record.
2021 Carla Jean Carla Jean 5'5" | CG North Miami | 2021 State FL (North Miami HS / Miami Suns) 5’6 Guard
Lefty combo guard who mainly plays point guard for North Miami and has deep 3-point range. Her range is her biggest strength as she is capable of knocking it down any where on the court once she crosses half court! When putting the ball to the floor and attacking off the dribble, she does a good job setting up her defender as if she is going right and then comes back to her left. She has good court vision and likes to throw the no look pass to her teammates for layups.
2021 Selah Reddick Selah Reddick 5'9" | SF Raines | 2021 State FL (Raines HS) 5’9 Guard
Was 2nd leading scorer for Raines, averaging 10.6 points per game while also averaging 5.3 rebounds and a staggering 7.0 steals per game! As evident by her stats, her biggest strength is as a defender as she had 5 games this season with double digit steals including a career high 14 steals vs DME Academy in November. She likes to attack in transition and draw defenders to set up her teammates for layups often preferring to pass over scoring herself. She has a nice hesitation move, making her defender to rise up and come out of her defensive stance. Very active player who is in “go mode” the whole entire game!
2022 Jazmine Jackson Jazmine Jackson 5'7" | PG Jackson HS | 2022 State FL (East Coast United North) 5’8 Guard
Athletic shooting guard who has good hops and can score off the dribble and knock down the open 3-pointer. She attacks the rim fearlessly off the dribble and is a good finisher. She is a capable ball handler that can play point guard but is better playing off the ball and getting offensive touches from the wing. She is an active player who gets lots of tips, deflections and steals on the defensive end by applying ball pressure and running through passing lanes.
2022 Peyton Petrick Peyton Petrick 6'1" | C St. Augustine HS | 2022 State FL (East Coast United North) 6’1 Forward
Tough, physical forward who plays hard and is active on both ends of the floor. She posts up aggressively and fights for low post position on the block. She is active on the offensive glass and does a good job finishing vs contact and in traffic. She has 10-12 feet range and is not afraid to mix it up and do the dirty work.
2023 Asiana Brit (Ribault HS) 5’8 Guard
Strong guard with broad shoulders who is an aggressive penetrator and plays with a ton of energy. She likes to play fast and attack the rim both in transition and in half court. Quick first step, can attack both left and right and has solid crossover move to take her defender off the dribble and get to the rack! One of the main reasons Ribault is 18-4 and has advanced in the regional tournament!
2023 Lexi Pizarro (Sickles HS) 5’7 Guard
Talented scoring guard who averaged 12.6 points per game in her Sophomore campaign shooting 27% from field and knocking down two 3-pointers per game. She has a strong base on her 3-pointer with a quick release. Competitive player who plays hard every possession, has good court vision, and is an unselfish passer. She is a capable ball handler who can get to the paint and has a decent mid-range game but her biggest strength is a catch-and-shoot 3.
2023 Yakiya Milton (Lee High School) 6’1 Wing/Forward
Very long, athletic, and versatile wing/forward who is averaging a double-double in her Sophomore year for Lee High School (10.1 PPG and 10.8 RPG to go along with an impressive 5.1 blocks per game). She can play both inside and out on the offensive end and has an exceptional wingspan. She plays well in open space and in an up-tempo transition game. She is an excellent defensive rebounder that makes quick outlet passes to ball handlers or is capable of starting the offensive break herself. She is a quick leaper who gets off the floor at a moment’s notice and is an impactful shot blocker and rim protector. Capable ball handler who predominantly attacks the rim with her right hand off the dribble and can finish high at the rim above defenders.
