With the pandemic plaguing all of the United States it is a much needed gesture for the CIFSS to allow the kids to play. 2021, 5’11, CG, Hanford HS, Corin Camara Corin Camara 5'11" | CG Hanford HS | 2021 State CA – Corin Camara Corin Camara 5'11" | CG Hanford HS | 2021 State CA of Hanford High School is a very athletic player. She has the ability to score on the fast break easily without any issue. She is very fast and has great ball-handling skills. She is especially good dribbling at full-speed. Very controlled, and calm under pressure. Her shooting form is phenomenal. It’s very quick and difficult to guard. Corin averaged 14.6 PPG, and scored a total of 394 points during her sophomore season. Corin had an average of 4.0 RPG, and 1.9 SPG. She also averaged 83% from the free-throw line. Averaging over 70% is always a good sign of a great shooter. Her team had an amazing league record of 10-0 during the 2019-2020 season. She has a great right-hand finish when scoring a lay-up. She is very aggressive off the dribble, which proves she can score with any defender on her. Her basketball IQ is very high, and she makes very smart decisions when she has the ball. Overall, Camara is a very smart player that has the ability to play at the collegiate level.
2021, 5’8, SG, Arroyo Grande HS, Kaiya Ellison Kaiya Ellison 5'8" | SG Arroyo Grande HS | 2021 State CA – Kaiya possesses lots of talent and shows it in her gameplay. She is very fast and plays with tenacity. Ellison plays great defense, and defense to me is very important. She has quick hands, and that makes it easier for her to steal the ball from her opponent. She is very smart on defense and doesn’t seem to foul very often. She plays alongside teammate Andrea Stajic, and together they control their squad. Both are very skilled and have great shooting forms. Kaiya’s shooting is fantastic, she has a great follow through and can score a jump shot from any spot around the 3 point perimeter. They accumulate a lot of points together. Kaiya averaged 13.4 PPG and scored a total of 322 points during the 2019-2020 seasons. She also averaged 76% from the free-throw line. As I have said before, making free throws is a very important skill to possess in basketball. They are basically free shots. I admire players who can make their free-throws. Ellison shows lots of potential on the court, and I can definitely see her playing at the college level.
2021, 6’2, C, El Cajon HS, Serene Weckback Serene Weckback 6'2" | C El Cajon HS | 2021 State CA – There are a couple of things that really stand out about Weckback; her defense and her rebounding. She is an intimidating presence in the paint; she’s a shot blocker that contests drives and short jumpers very well. She’s patient; stays down on fakes. On the glass, she boxes out properly and rebounds with two hands. Crashes the offensive glass. She keeps the ball high and goes right up strong after securing an offensive rebound.
2021, 5’5, PG, Beyer HS, Maryam Marooki Maryam Marooki 5'5" | PG Beyer HS | 2021 State CA – Maryam Marooki Maryam Marooki 5'5" | PG Beyer HS | 2021 State CA of Beyer High School in Modest, CA is the ultimate hard worker. Maryam goes out in every single play. Maryam is always going all out on defense and offense. When she is on defense, she does a phenomenal job of pressuring her opponent. She will always be in their faces. If I were a coach, I would appreciate the hard work a player puts in their defending. I admire how hard she works to deny her opponent from scoring. Maryam averaged 10.3 PPG, she scored a total of 247 points during her Junior season. She also averaged 1.8 APG, 3.5 RPG, and 2.5 SPG. Marooki has a great jump shot, although I think she can be better at scoring around the basket. She has a great first step on her dribble that allows her to dribble past defenders, but scoring off the dribble is something she can work on. She does run down the court for her teammates on the fast break, and that allows her to get easy open lay-ups. I appreciate a player that is always looking to score off the fast break. Maryam is also a very fast player, and she is very hard to keep up with. Overall, Marooki is a very aggressive player that always gets the job done.
2021, 5’7, SG, Oakdale HS, Alicia Platt Alicia Platt 5'7" | SG Oakdale HS | 2021 State CA – Alicia Platt Alicia Platt 5'7" | SG Oakdale HS | 2021 State CA of Oakdale High School in Oakdale, CA that uses her athleticism immensely in her gameplay. Platt can dribble from one of the court to the other on a fast break with multiple defenders on her back and score easily. Not only that, she has an outstanding jump shot. She can easily shoot beyond the arc with no problem at all. She can easily score with defenders in her face. Alicia averaged 17.4 PPG and scored a total of 244 points during her Junior season of 2019-2020. Platt also averaged 2.9 APG, 5.1 RPG, and 4.4 SPG. She also had a 62% free-throw percentage. Alicia is an all-around great player. She is aggressive and confident in her gameplay. When Platt is on a mission, she won’t stop until she achieves her goal. I believe Platt will be very successful during her Senior season.
