We will evaluate their games and we hope you will enjoy this edition of the Prep Girls Hoops rankings right before the high school season starts. With the pandemic plaguing all of the United States it is a much needed gesture for the CIFSS to allow the kids to play. These evaluations are credited to the collective of writers on this website.
2022, 5’10, SG, Mater Dei HS, Lani White Lani White 5'10" | SG Mater Dei HS | 2022 State CA – White is a tough wing who can score efficiently. She looks comfortable getting her own shot. She can shoot off the dribble and she has good elevation on her jumper. She’s able to attack the defense off the bounce and she has a nice little runner when she gets into the lane. She also moves very well off ball. She makes good strong cuts in halfcourt sets and he runs the break well and fills the lane in transition.
2022, 5’7, CG, Bakersfield HS, Erica Hayden Erica Hayden 5'7" | CG Bakersfield HS | 2022 State CA – Hayden is a forward who can score in multiple ways. She can handle the ball and get to the rim. She can step out and shoot from three-point range and she squares up well with great shooting mechanics. She’s strong too and can power her way through smaller defenders in the post. Good defensive player who steps in to take charges as well as applies pressure on ball.
2022, 5’4, PG, Troy HS, Isabella Pearson Isabella Pearson 5'4" | PG Troy HS | 2022 State CA – Pearson a good wing scorer. She’s a lights out three-point shooter. She can pull-up from three in transition or she can shoot from three off the dribble in the halfcourt. She can move without the ball too and get herself open from the perimeter. Uses screens well to free herself. She runs the break well either as a ball-handler or as a finisher.
2022, 5’8, PF, Arvin HS, Ivette Salcedo Ivette Salcedo 5'8" | PF Arvin HS | 2022 State CA – Ivette Salcedo Ivette Salcedo 5'8" | PF Arvin HS | 2022 State CA of Arvin High School in Arvin, CA is a very aggressive center. She has a huge presence on the court and makes a huge effort to score under the basket. She has great hands, whenever the ball is passed to her she will always catch it. You can always trust Ivette to handle the ball with care, and not commit many turnovers. She is a hard player to guard because of her size, and dedication to score every time. Ivette Salcedo Ivette Salcedo 5'8" | PF Arvin HS | 2022 State CA averaged 9.1 PPG and scored a total of 273 points during her sophomore season. Not only that she averaged 8.0 RPG and 2.5 SPG. She is a dominant player under the basket, and she dominates the boards all around. She makes a huge impact on the defensive and offensive end. Ivette has helped her team reach a successful 11-1 league record, and a 28-6 overall record. She has no doubt helped her team have a successful 2019-2020 season, and will also no doubt keep that legacy on.
2022, 5’10, C, Salesian HS, Georgia Pournaras Georgia Pournaras 5'10" | C Salesian HS | 2022 State CA – This girl was a scoring machine today she scored at all levels, perimeter mid-range and low post stretch three type with great ball skills and moves well without the ball to receive passes in both the high post and low-post effectively spin’s to the Rim to score. Very effective Defender can apply pressure 84 feet,plays hard and runs the floor very very well. She can score in a variety of ways and with either hand . The motor never stopped today!
2022, 5’5, PG, Folsom HS, Chelsea Ching Chelsea Ching 5'7" | PG Folsom | 2022 State CA – Ching is a good pick and roll guard. She can use the screen to get a switch and mismatch to get downhill, or she’ll find her big rolling to the rim for an easy two. Crafty footwork to sidestep defenders on her way to the rim. She likes to shoot off the dribble in the halfcourt and she can knock down pull-up jumpers in transition. A good ball-handler who can dribble under pressure. She can shoot it from three-point range as well.
