The shakeup in the 2023 class came as players were finding creative ways over the summer to showcase their skills. The shutdown stopped business as usual but didn’t stop all busuness. Players were able to get out of their team setting and get creative, filming workouts and even playing outside. Here a some players that assended the ranks in the update.
Jadyn Donovan Jadyn Donovan 6'1" | SF Sidwell Friends School | 2023 State #21 Nation MD – 6’0″ – Wing – Sidwell Friends
Jadyn was in a fortunate position that both her club team and high school team got in games during the late summer and fall. She was always one of the top players in the class but she has stepped up her play and has become a focus of the oposition.
Alana Tate – 5’9″ – Combo Guard – Urbana
Alana has jumped from outside of the top ten to a top five player in the class basically by making herself visible. She spent her high school freshman season doing a lot of post work which may have helped her inside game but playing out of position didn’t showcase her skill. Seeing her willingness to lay it on the line in workouts outside in the rain and 95 degree temperatures not only showed what she can do but how dedicated she is to getting better.
Khia Miller Khia Miller 5'8" | SG Sidwell Friends | 2023 State MD – 5’8″ – Wing – Sidwell Friends
Khia went from previously unranked to #13 in the class. We noticed her with her club team initially but she was able to shine as well playing alongside some of the nations best on her high school team. As she finds her niche’ I can see her slipping into the top 10.
Gabby Grantham-Medley Gabby Grantham-Medley 5'7" | SF North Hagerstown | 2023 State MD – 5’8″ – Guard – St. James School
Gabby began turning heads as a 7th grader playing varsity. She not only played but was one of the top players on a roster with division one players. She has quietly been on everyone’s radar over the pandemic and it will be interesting to see where she lands over the summer. She is a solid all around guard that can play both on the inside and out.
Delaney Thomas Delaney Thomas 6'2" | C St. John's College | 2023 State MD – 6’2″ – Post – St. Johns College
Delaney has risen and most certainly should see herself in the top 10 with a solid spring/summer. She is very agile for a post and will probably be a stretch or wing in college as her perimeter game improves. She has some skill in place already to create perimeter mismatches but will need to be given the opportunity to show her value outside the box.
