With the new 2023 rankings up to date, let’s take a deeper look into the post players that have made the list.
Mara Rieder Mara Rieder 6'0" | PF Menasha | 2023 State WI
Reider has a natural feel for the ball and is fundamentally sound in terms of boxing out and using her upper body strength to secure the ball. She is not turnover prone, and constantly is making plays on the court to make her team better each night. She has a high level of aggressiveness and confident attitude on the court that makes her even more intimidating inside the lane. Rieder averaged 18 points in an extremely tough FVA conference.
Kierra Bond Kierra Bond 5'7" | C Riverside | 2023 WI
Bond is a well built post player with ability to put up huge numbers on both ends. She is at her best attacking the basket strongly and has a very good ability to finish through contact. During her freshman year at Messmer, Bond averaged 15 points per game. Her team sat out this season due to COVID. With some improved ball handling, Bond could be one of the most versatile players in her conference. Defensively, she plays the passing lanes well and anticipates steals and deflections at a high rate.
Meghan Schultz Meghan Schultz 6'4" | C New Berlin West | 2023 State WI
Schultz holds the number ten spot in the 2023 rankings this time around. She’s an exceptional post player. Physically she is almost impossible to guard one on one and commands constant double teams. She averaged 19 points and 9 rebounds per game during her sophomore season She can score with her back to the basket as well as in the midrange. She has a natural feel around the basket and uses her upper body strength to finish at the rim with either hand. It is clear that Schultz has spent a lot of time in the gym working on her jumper as well. Schultz holds Division 1 offers from IUPUI, St.Thomas and Green Bay.
Caden Krohn Caden Krohn 6'0" | PF Waukesha West | 2023 State WI
Krohn is quietly becoming one of the best all around players in the state of Wisconsin. While her name may not be ringing bells on the national level just yet, the people in Wisconsin know they have something special in this recruit. She is the perfect size and build to dominate at both ends of the court at the high school level. During her sophomore season, Krohn made five 3-point baskets in a game against Martin Luther. She can score from multiple spots on the floor. She holds a Division 1 offer from IUPUI.
Kylie Wittnebel Kylie Wittnebel 6'0" | PF Beaver Dam | 2023 WI
Most exciting thing a team gets with Wittnebel is that she never takes a play off on either end of the floor. She clearly sees the game in a way that is advanced for players her age and she is just scratching the surface in terms of long-term potential. She can score from various points on the floor and brings a high level of rebounding on both ends of the floor. This past season she averaged 8 points per game and scored a season-high 17 points in a victory over Monona Grove. She will be one of the focal points for Beaver Dam in the years to come.
Abbie Dix Abbie Dix 5'11" | PF Brodhead | 2023 WI
Dix has a quick first step that allows her to get past defenders and get to the rim with ease. She can put it on the floor with either hand and finish above the rim or draw fouls on bigger defenders because of her ability to attack the rim. She can make plays for her teammates to get easy buckets and find people in the open court with her ability to see the floor as well as see over smaller defenders because of her height. During her sophomore season, Dix averaged nearly 18 points per game and 10 rebounds per game.
Allison Hampel Allison Hampel 6'0" | PF Greenfield | 2023 State WI
Hampel can guard almost any position on the floor at the high school level. She is quick enough to stay in front of guards on the perimeter and her size and athleticism allows her to go in the paint and guard bigger players in the post. She averaged nearly 17 points and 12 rebounds per game during her sophomore season. Her quick leaping ability allows her to block shots and set up teammates for easy transition plays and causes easy turnovers with deflections and steals by playing the passing lanes. Her ability to rebound the basketball on the offensive end is probably one of her most prized attributes.
Paige Lambe Paige Lambe 6'2" | PF Verona | 2023 State WI
Lambe is an incredible defender and has proved she can guard anyone in the paint after an extremely impressive season at Verona. She averaged 10 points per game to help her team land a spot at the WIAA State Tournament. On the defensive end, she can guard multiple positions on the floor. Her speed and length give her the ability to keep smaller guards in front of her and stay with bigger and stronger wings he faces. She uses her leaping ability to secure rebounds on the defensive end and gets out into transition where she is most comfortable.
