The class of 2023 has a load of talent in the top half of the class. As we like to say, the class of 2023 has next in Washington! In the latest rankings review article we will take a look at the top prospect at each position for this group of sophomores. The players reviewed below are listed as point guard, shooting guard, combo guard, small forward, power forward and center. Please note that several players can easily play multiple positions on the floor.
<h3><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>Top Point Guard</strong></span></h3>
5’5 point guard [player_tooltip player_id="115413" first="Malia" last="Samuels"] of Eastside Catholic High School is the diamond recruit of the class at the point guard position. Her change of pace, strength and speed with the ball in her hands makes her a tough handle. She displays a great motor on the defensive end as well adding to her attack.
<h3><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>Top Shooting Guard</strong></span></h3>
5’10 shooting guard [player_tooltip player_id="115417" first="Isabel" last="Sullivan"] has come out of the pandemic having grown a couple inches and steadily working on her game, excited to get back on the floor showing what she is capable of doing. The Eastside Catholic High School standout is one of the top offensive players in the state with her all around craftiness and shooting ability as a left handed player.
<h3><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>Top Combo Guard</strong></span></h3>
The top combo guard is 6’1 [player_tooltip player_id="115409" first="Adria" last="Lincoln"] of Monroe High School. I have seen Lincoln play some at the one, two or three on the floor which bodes well for her future as she could be an interchangeable player for a college at the next level. Lincoln is at her best when she is playing with aggression and looking to make plays assertively.
<h3><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>Top Small Forward</strong></span></h3>
The state’s top prospect at the three position is Garfield High School’s [player_tooltip player_id="115405" first="Imbie" last="Jones"]. At 6’1, Jones can do a little bit of everything on both sides of the ball. She is slowly but surely getting stronger and that is helping her to be able to finish through contact and rebound in the paint. A growing heralded recruit in the 2023 class that ranks in the top 20 nationally.
<h3><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>Top Power Forward</strong></span></h3>
The state’s top power forward is Ellensburg High School [player_tooltip player_id="115393" first="Olivia" last="Anderson"]. The 6’6 forward can run the floor like a deer and has rare length for the state of Washington. She is a high level three point shooter and has really improved her driving game. As she continues to gain strength, her game will only continue to improve.
<h3><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>Top Center</strong></span></h3>
6’4 center [player_tooltip player_id="154284" first="Vivienne" last="Berrett"] is a standout player at Stanwood High School with her great size and strength in the paint. She is still growing into her body and developing her all around game, but the tools are there. She is a solid back to the basket style post player. Berrett is a hard worker and will only get better with time.
