Arapahoe at Mullen, Saturday, 2:30 p.m.
It’s a matinee to probably decide runner-up in the Class 5A/4A Centennial League. 4A Mullen has taken two hits against 5A top-rated Grandview. Megan Pohs Megan Pohs 5'3" | PG Mullen | 2021 State CO (PGH-Colorado 2021 No. 12, Regis signee), Gracie Gallegos Gracie Gallegos 6'1" | SF Mullen | 2022 State CO (PGH-Colorado 2022 No. 6) and Imani Perez Imani Perez 6'3" | PF Mullen | 2022 State CO (PGH-Colorado 2022 No. 4) will be bidding to finish 12-2 and perhaps claim the classification’s top playoff seed in the convoluted formula. Arapahoe entered the week tied with Mullen, lost head-to-head to the Mustangs by 30 and must also take on Grandview on Thursday.
Regis Jesuit at Chaparral, Friday, 7 p.m.
The visiting Raiders have been idle – quarantined, actually, as they sit atop the league standings at 7-0. Here’s where they may resume play. Avery Van Sickle (PGH-Colorado 2021 No. 2 and Washington signee) and Co. should at least be rested. As for Chaparral, it’s a game back, having lost to Highlands Ranch, but a chance for at least a mathematical tie for the loop title. The Bang sisters, Avery (PGH-Colorado 2022 No. 7) and Payton (PGH-Colorado No. 24) usually combined for about 24 points and 13 rebounds.
George Washington vs. Denver South, Saturday, 1 p.m.
The Denver Prep crown figures to come down to this one. George Washington and Maya Whiteside Maya Whiteside 6'0" | SF George Washington | 2021 State CO (PGH-Colorado 2021 No. 8 and Long Island signee) against Denver South and Timiya Guevara Timiya Guevara 5'4" | PG Denver South | 2021 State CO (PGH-Colorado 2021 No. 9 and Miami-Dade signee). It’s fitting. And expect a shootout – Whiteside and the Patriots can handle the up-and-down, and Guevara recently posted the third-best total (55 points) in Colorado history.
