Freshman Shooters You Should Know
In this article:
Consistent freshman players are hard to come by, much less a consistent freshman shooter. Here are the class of 2024 shooters who prove that theory wrong, and that you should be watching:
Zamareya Jones Zamareya Jones 5'6" | PG North Pitt | 2024 State NC : The 5’8 combo guard from North Pitt high school is something SERIOUS to watch. Already picking up D1 offers she puts on a show when she is on the court. Averaging around 23 points as a freshman, and knocking down 38% of her attempted shots from deep, and dishing out nearly 7 assists so her teammates can get in on the action as well. She has already had a 45 point performance that included her knocking down 10 3 balls. In 9 other games this last season she knocked down 3+ from deep. She is long and athletic, pushes tempo, makes good decisions with the ball in her hands, and seems to be a good floor general. She is definitely a player to watch over the next 3 seasons, and catch her this summer with FBC Elite organization.
Serenity McNair Serenity McNair 5'5" | PG Grace Christian | 2024 State NC : The 5’4 point guard from Greenfield high school may be small but she doesn’t play small. Another freshman to average over 20 points per game, and fill up the rest of the stat sheet as well, she did a good job shooting the 3 ball this last season. Knocking down a 3 in every game she played in, hitting almost 30% from long range, she showed she is capable of being a consistent threat. She went on a hot streak in the middle of the season knocking down 5, 6, 5, 6, and then 4 all in a 5 game stretch. Besides knocking down the 3 ball, she had more assists than turnovers, grabbed over 3 boards a game at her size, and she just flat out plays hard. She is a player who is turning into something very special to keep your eyes on. Catch her this summer with Lady Strong Center organization and the next 3 years of high school ball.
Sophie Levine Sophie Levine 5'7" | SG Providence Day | 2024 NC : The 5’7 lefty shooting guard from Providence Day School is a long and lanky player. She knows her role is to move to get open and knock down 3’s, and she does a good job of that. Knocking down over 40 3’s as a freshman at a 33% conversion rate is nothing to sneeze at. She started off the season hot knocking down shots in their first 7 games, got in a little slump, but was able to dig herself out of it by the end of the season. She moves well to get open on the perimeter, has a nice high release, and holds her follow through. This shooter is one to keep an eye on.
Mila Holloway Mila Holloway 5'9" | PG Legacy Early College | 2024 State SC : The 5’5 point guard from Covenant Day School had herself a very nice freshman season. Another stat sheet stuffer, she can fill it up, grab rebounds, dish it out, and steal it from her opponents. She did a nice job from beyond the arc knocking down nearly 36% of her attempts. She can create her own shot, and if you don’t get up and guard her then she’s just going to pull it from where she is. She is also a hustle player and makes a lot of defensive plays for her team. She is a player to keep watching over the next 3 seasons.
Alissa Cheek: The 5’6 guard from Rosman high school is another freshman on this list who averaged over 20 points per game. In her team’s shortened season she really made the most of every game she played in. Putting up multiple 30 point games, knocking down 38% of her 3’s, and another player who loved getting her teammates involved with dishing out over 4 assists per game. She can fill up the bucket, and setup teammates to fill it up as well. She is an intriguing player to try and catch over the next 3 seasons.
