Coach Daniel Jackson is a strong believer in fundamentals and the girls were put through a series of cone drills working to get downhill. According to the coaches and players they are extremely excited to be back in the gym as their season was postponed last summer due to Covid-19 precautions.
Here are a few players to watch this summer:
Hannah Cail Hannah Cail 5'7" | PG Calvary Day | 2023 State GA 5’7 2023 Calvary Day School, Savannah, GA
High IQ point guard/shooting guard that has the ability to score at all 3 levels. Coach Daniel Jackson mentioned “Hannah grew about 3 inches since last summer”. Has the ability to handle the ball well in traffic and transition. She sees the court very well which leads to easy buckets. Gets downhill quickly. Shoots the 3-ball consistently. Brings a spark on both ends of the court. She will come up on a lot of college coaches’ radars this summer.
Paris Washington 5’9 2023 Savannah High, Savannah, GA
Paris has the ability to get to the basket and finish through contact. She can takeover a game at any given moment. She has the ability to jump out the gym which leads to rebounds and put-backs. Has a nice jump shot in transition. Can also use her length to create turnovers. Game changer.
Marlee Burner 5’8 2022 Johnson High School, Savannah, GA
Has the ability and size to shoot over most defenders. Pushes the ball well in transition. Has the ability to stop on a dime and pull up in transition. Long wing-span that leads to a lot of deflections and makes it tough for her opponents to score. Marlee showed she could shoot the 3 ball consistently.
Allejah Moultrie 6’2 2022 Beach High School, Savannah, GA
Allejah showed her post presence with numerous moves on the block. Nice footwork and length to score at the rim. Allejah does the little things that may not show up on the stat sheets. She deters a lot of shots with her long wing-span. Has the ability to rebound and outlet quickly to her teammates.
Kara Lofton 5’5 2021 Woodville Tompkins, Garden City, GA
Kara brings the spark and the energy for her teammates. She consistently moves without the ball and sees the floor well. She has the ability to finish through contact and score at will. Great competitor. An unsigned senior that has the basketball IQ and work ethic to play at the next level.
Amelia Wylly 6’1 2021 Savannah Country Day, Savannah, GA
“Amelia is pass first post that does the little things to get her teammates involved” said Coach Daniel Jackson. Amelia has the ability to screen and find her open teammates slashing to the basket. She can also rebound with the best of them. Her ability to run rim to rim will lead to her playing at the next level.
Mikayla Duncan 5’3 2021 Woodville Tompkins, Garden City, GA
Great on ball defender that makes it tough for her opponents to score. Vocal floor general that see the floor well. Uses her quickness to blow by her defenders and get to the basket. A hidden gem that will run through a brick wall if need be. Unsigned senior that has the ability to be a great point guard a the next level.
