These young ladies are ready to shine bright as they tune-up to battle some very talented teams this upcoming spring and summer. Don’t sleep on this team, because when the whistle blows, it’s game on. These girls play with hunger and tenacity. It’s gonna be a dog fight when you lace’em up against these girls.
Coached by Tony McLeod of Father Ryan, this squad is one of the most disciplined and fundamentally sound teams around. These girls just love to play ball and they collectively play the game well together. Built with scoring in mind, these girls can hoop it up with the best of them.
Here are some notable standouts on the 2022 Stars Basketball Club Nashville Premier team.
Bergen Allee (G, Summit)- This 5’8 standout can do a little bit of everything. She can take it to the rack, shoot off the dribble, and drain it from deep. She is a hustler on defense as she has a knack for getting her hand on the ball. She is an outstanding rebounder who always seems to be in the right spot at the right time.
Annalise Malone (C, Lincoln Co.)- The 6’1 post player is a beast down low. She has great footwork that allows her to work from block to block. Offensively, she has a nice mid-range game and can also step out and shoot the occasional 3. She controls the boards on both ends of the floor. Look for her to lead the team in posting up double-doubles throughout the season.
Mallye Merritt (SG, Lipscomb Academy)- The 5’9 guard leads by example. She is a quiet leader who loves to play the game defensively. Though she prides herself on defense, offensively she is a scoring threat as well. She can get to the rim off the dribble, has a quick first step that compliments her mid-range game, and can shoot the 3 ball well. She is an incredible addition to this Stars club.
Brette Taylor (SG, Hendersonville)- She is a pure shooter with size. The 5’10 standout is as confident as they come. She has great form and it shows in how many points she puts up. She can shoot the ball at a high clip from all 3 levels. Though coaches will talk about her offensive game, she is a heady player on defense as well. Look for her to gain some attention from coaches this upcoming travel ball season.
Ella Grace Thompson (PG, Lipscomb Academy)- A pure floor general. She is one of the best in the area as a pure passer. She has amazing court vision as she is able to find open teammates at a moment’s notice. She is great in transition. She is one of the most unselfish young ladies around. Though she loves setting up her teammates, she can also shoot the ball consistently from various levels.
