We will evaluate their games and we hope you will enjoy this edition of the Prep Girls Hoops rankings right before the high school season starts. With the pandemic plaguing all of the United States it is a much needed gesture for the CIFSS to allow the kids to play. These evaluations are credited to the collective of writers on this website.
2024, 6’3, SF/C, Whitney HS, Harper Peterson – Peterson is a young player that has some high upside. She can be a scoring wing and she makes good decisions with the ball in her hands. Confident player who is patient and doesn’t force the issue. Good shooter from three-point range who can move well without the ball and get herself open. Solid player in transition who gets out and can finish strong at the rim. Good length defensively.
2024, 5’7, CG, St. Josephs HS, Kailah Oani Kailah Oani 5'4" | CG St. Josephs HS | 2024 State CA – Every time I watch Oani play, she pulls something new out of her bag of tricks. She is a well-composed guard who has the ability to push the ball in transition and slice through traffic. Oani is skilled off the dribble. She can not only get to the rim and finish but can also pull-up and shoot the ball. Oani can shoot from three-point range.
2024, 5’4, PG, Fairmont Prep HS, Jadalyn Umali-Claros Jadalyn Umali-Claros 5'4" | PG Fairmont Prep HS | 2024 State CA – Umali-Claros is a solid guard. She has a quick first step that gets her past her defenders and to the rim. She can finish with her right and left hand. She pushes the ball in transition and also runs the lanes well. She is a good three-point shooter.
2024, 5’7, PG, LaSalle HS, Audrey Chen Audrey Chen 5'7" | PG La Salle HS | 2024 State CA – Chen is a lefty guard who is a straight-up competitor. She is a composed ball-handler and can slice through traffic to get to the rim. Off the dribble, she can dish the ball well to her open teammates. Chen does have three-point range. She is a player that has a lot of potential and I am excited to see how her game develops.
