Continue ReadingI had a chance to catch a few additional players during the high school season, yet I also caught even more traveling on the Prep Girls Hoop Circuit so one more time, I do not post what I do not see, I’m not really in watching deepfake videos or people sending me “loaded” stats, both against “non-competitive teams or players so again, here is a link to where I’ll be
#29 Zachara Perkins Zachara Perkins 6'3" | SF Summer Creek | 2024 State TX -6’1 PG (St Pius)
Perkins has been showing me progression for quite a few years yet at a tournament, I wasn’t invited back to a year ago, I had a chance to talk in-depth with the young lady and her BB-IQ simply left me speechless as she was breaking players and games down which should be no surprise since her mom was a WNBA star. Fast forward to her freshman season in HS, if I gave a Most Improved Award, she would be in the mix, she had a couple of triple-doubles in front of me, countless doubles yet her CLUTCH performances which including dropping the 3 as well as running the 1 tells me “she ain’t done”
#33 Melinda Winston Melinda Winston 6'0" | PF Alief Hastings | 2024 State TX -6’3 PF (Hastings)
Winston also sent a message in her freshman season and it wasn’t telepathic as she went into the high school season more than ready averaging around a double-double yet she caught my eye entering middle school, I saw the potential and I’ve observed the progression and watching her set the defender up to either attack and finish or finish inside the paint, she has great hands as well as footwork yet her facing the basket to score has elevated her game. She rebounds on both ends and plays solid defense
#40 Payton Conner Payton Conner 6'2" | C New Home | 2024 State TX -6’1 C (Sterling City)
Conner caught my eye at #DuelForTheDynasty and I wrote “watching her operate around the basket understanding how to not only “pin” the defender yet her mobility in the paint just captivated me but that’s not all because I had not looked at the roster and watching her do what she’s doing as a freshman will definitely open plenty of eyes” yet she has continued to impress me by adding “scores multiple ways” usually with players hanging on her, figuratively, well literally too
#42 Logan Reed Logan Reed 6'1" | SG Godley | 2024 State TX -5’10 SG (Godley)
I talk about how I love big guards that can shoot the ball yet, more importantly, college coaches love it too, and they offer scholarships so this is why Reed was added “Reed is long and athletic, I call that “the base” and she rounded all four as she brings a lot to the table. She creates her shot, under pressure and her deceptive first step gives defenders problems because she can also hit the jumper but watching her rebound and defend, as well as having good timing to block shots gives you an idea of what’s coming” and trust me, more is coming
#43 Taylor Gerard-6’2 SF (Elkins)
Gerard is chasing The Fugitive, GOOGLE IT, yet she has captured so many things that are definitely impressive starting with the base, she’s long and athletic, she has pretty good timing to block, deflect and even alter shots plus she runs the floor, on both ends and rebounds, on both ends as well. She can score inside the paint or face the basket yet her upside is appealing I can’t wait to watch her progression on the court
