This was my first time seeing her, hey Texas is a very large state filled with talent and he was on point but here are some of the fresh faces I caught on opening day. I’ll close that part out, opening day, with a part 3 later today
Kyrah Brodie-6’4 P (Lady Bradley Beal Elite 16U) 2022
Brodie has good hands and footwork, that was my initial take and she’s mobile, either finishing after contact or running the court and finishing after igniting the break after rebounding, which she does on both ends. This also enabled her to get putbacks and finish after contact
Jordan Harrison Jordan Harrison 5'5" | PG Classen SAS | 2022 State OK -5’5 PG (Mavs Elite STRONG-Durham) 2022
Harrison gets the SWB acronym, speed with ball, and watching her zoom down the court under control as well as flying away to the basket finishing not only with contact but acrobatically gave me a boost of adrenaline yet she wasn’t finished as she also saw the floor very well and showed her quick hands which enabled her to come up with steals galore
Jaida McDonald-6’1 C (Lady Jets Randle 16U) 2023
McDonald had a farm of thing I love to see starting with “she’s long and athletic” and one more time, that’s the base I use yet she attacks the basket strongly from the wing and finishes with contact yet she also elevates with her UPS and from a standing position, seeing her grab rebounds on either end was nice
Nakya Blakely-5’8 SG (Lady Nation OK) 2023
Blakely gave me a nice mix in a short amount of time, it doesn’t take me long and it didn’t her long to show that her pull-up with a hand in her face was legit, so was her attacking the basket from multiple angles yet seeing her handle the ball under pressure and hitting teammates sort of sealed it, well playing the passing lane actually did that
Cheyanne Kemp-5’5 PG (Mavs Elite STRONG- Durham) 2023
Kemp gave me a class of Shooting The Ball 101 as her ability to create her shot under pressure and hit consistently was the first thing, then the “catch and shoot” from mid to long-range yet her taking off from the other end and hitting the stop and pop jumper gave me a trifecta of what enjoy seeing from shooting guards yet she can also run a squad, combo guard
Jordan Lee Jordan Lee 5'9" | SG St. Marys Stockton | 2024 State CA -6’0 SF (Jason Kidd Select 16U) 2024
Lee immediately sold me on her game, even before I saw what class she was in but she’s playing up and she plays smart and by that, within herself yet she also can take over a game offensively by scoring on the pull-up or taking defenders off the dribble, she creates both nicely under pressure yet she also applies pressure on defense, plays the passing lane and has HUGE upside which is scary
