Desiree Penny-5’6 (Oklahoma Chaos) dropped 4 on day 2, I guess 6 shouldn’t be acknowledged, or what about Allie Buchanan Allie Buchanan 6'1" | PF Lake Dallas | 2022 State TX –6’0 (Platinum Basketball 2022 Bates) who shot the long ball at around 70% over the weekend but I’m going to mix it up a little bit because, well that’s what I do, partially because I’m all MIXED up but here ya go
Halyn Carmack-5’4 CG (Shock 2022 Gold) 2022
Carmack falls into one of my many hashtags #sizedontmatter because she can play and yeah, I saw her dropping the long ball, attacking the basket and seeing the floor, not leave out defending and playing the passing lane, which I truly enjoy seeing yet I was upset wasting my soda when she came out of NOWHERE and elevated over taller players to crash the boards, I can’t make this stuff up and that was one of “plays of the day” embedded in my had
Ny’Era West Ny’Era West 5'9" | CG Rangeview | 2022 State CO -5’8 CG (Colorado Prospects Academy 2022)
West name had been floating around before the tournament so watching her on Saturday dropping the “floata” had me smiling but let me tell you something, she has long arms and she’s athletic so that falls into the base as well and at her size, watching her outrebound taller players was a treat, so was blocking their shots but her explosiveness off the dribble to score as well as off the ground for the jumper, mid to long-range just stood completely out as she scored 29 points on a variety of ways
Tiani Ellison Tiani Ellison 6'1" | C Silo | 2023 State OK -6’1 PF (Team Trae Young 2022) 2023
Ellison had me attach a hashtag to her evaluation as well, #BEAST and watching her finish on putbacks, that means she rebounds on the offensive end and I also put UPS, figure it out but not only does she battle for the ball off the rim on both ends, she’s strong and understands how to use her body and when you factor in her timing to block shots, did I leave out she was long and athletic but even with all of that I just wrote, I love her upside
Baylor Franz Baylor Franz 5'6" | PG Edmond Memorial | 2023 State OK -5’7 CG (Oklahoma Swish 2022 Foreman) 2023
Franz had me in TRANZ watching her game in the what, 7th or 8th grade, I don’t even remember but if you use the search bar, you will see what I said. Franz is a heady player that plays within herself, she sees the floor and can score, I said all of that yet her PROGRESSION is what I’m more impressed with as she is #CLUTCH, there’s another hashtag and seeing her defend and make things happen you may not see on a score not stat sheet tells another story
Taaron Drake-5’3 PG (Victory Ministry 2022) 2024
Drake is NOT related to the rapper, if she is, she isn’t, yet she threw a wraparound pass that went PLATINUM in my eyes not to mention several “no looks” and yeah, she falls into that #sizedontmatter but what really matters is s makes those around her better and I can add her #CLUTCH not only shooting and coring but her ability to just come up with big plays made her an absolute #BEAST to close out the event
