In this article we take a look at two more of the young and talented guards in The City program. They won both 14u pools and are extremely deep in their talent pool.
- London Harris London Harris 5'9" | CG Hopkins | 2025 State MN London is another in the long line of outstanding players that made the trip with The City program from Minneapolis. She was extremely effective in applying pressure on the defensive end and attacking the basket on offense. London does a very good job of using her agility and creativeness to create open lanes to the basket where she can finish.
- Gianna Amadio is a 5’6 2024 Guard for the Illinois Rockets 15u Red team. Gianna is a high level defender that is a huge weapon for them to use on any top level guard/wing. She does a good job of using her quick hands to disrupt ball handlers and has good lateral quickness that allows her to keep even the quickest of players in front of her. Offensively Gianna shows good handles and a burst of speed that makes her a threat to penetrate at any time.
- Lily Fisher is a 5’9 guard for the Wolverinas 2025 team. Lily is a very fundamentally sound player that shows excellent vision and understanding of the game. She spent much of her time on offense looking to facilitate rather than to score. Lily shows definite ability and just needs to become a little more confident and assertive for her game to really take off.
- Alana Shields is a 5’1 Point Guard from the EZ Work Elite 2025 team. Alana is is a strong and quick guard that can defend and handle the ball well. Offensively she has deep range on her 3-point shot and is a good passer. As the point guard she does a good job of applying pressure on the ball on defense and creating turnovers for her team.
- Maliyah White is another one of the high level players from The City program. Maliyah shows the ability to score at a high level but she shares the spotlight with a bunch of talented players. If you watch the individual plays you can see that she has the handles, the moves and shooting range to score in bunches. Maliyah does a good job of using a variety of finishing moves once she gets to the lane to create space and shooting angles.
- Hannah Kenney is a 5’7 Wing for the 2024 Force MW team. Hannah is a player that might be described as a lunch bucket player. She comes to play, comes to play hard and will do all of the little things a team needs. Despite her size she is a very good rebounder, plays good defense and is a magnet for loose balls.
I really enjoyed covering the 14/15u divisions at the PGH Easter Classic. Many scouts prefer to cover the established names and the bright lights of the older kids, but, I enjoy the young and new players that are trying to make a name for themselves. In addition with the out of state teams coming in from Minnesota and Indiana, it made even that much better to learn about new kids. I covered and wrote about 42 different players and I guarantee I missed girls that will end up being very high level players. At this age, many are just scratching the surface of who and what they can be. I cannot wait to watch and see who I missed!
