This weekend I was in Indianapolis attending the Indy Clash at the Indianapolis Convention Center. The field had several really nice teams in each age group, there were a number of competitive games each day, and below are 11 young ladies who I thought played well when I was able to see them throughout the day Sunday.

I hadn’t seen Taylor in-person for some time, so it was good to see her play over the weekend. She is a strong kid, she works hard, and she can play at all three levels. She has touch outside, she can put it on the floor a little and get somewhere productively, plus she has the size and toughness to battle inside. She’s gritty on the block, she’s a willing rebounder as well, but I think she’s most effective in the mid-post with the ability to step out, ball-screen, and either pop and shoot or roll and finish. Her offensive versatility is really nice.

Hadley’s style of play hasn’t really changed much over the last three years, but she’s gotten much stronger, more efficient, and she has done a nice job of tightening her skillset over that time. This weekend, I was most impressed with her ability to play in traffic. She handled the ball well, change directions, and absorbed contact without turning it over. She exploded through gaps, finished at the basket, and knocked down rhythm jumpers when they were available. I really enjoyed both her motor and awareness, and I think she could be a tremendous small college point guard and a potential “fit” kid at a few Division-I schools.

Macey is another point guard who has really impressed me this Spring. She has always been a lightning quick/fast water-bug with length, but now she is playing a much more mature game, managing the offense, and picking her spots a lot better. She has tremendous length, she darts all over the floor, and she can be a real problem defensively. I think her ability to shoot outside, attack the basket and score, plus her willingness to pass and vision as a point guard really put defenders in a difficult spot having to choose what to take away from her.
Johnai Wimbleduff, 2022, 5-8 PF, Ben Davis H.S.
Johnai always seems to affect the game for her Lady Impact team. She is a strong, powerful, physical forward, but she is rather quick-footed and she plays with a nice motor. She will get inside and move people, box out, rebound, and she has figured out how to create space to finish over taller, longer players. But she also has a nice mid-post game facing the rim, she can attack one to two dribbles and finish, and she has knocked down the occasional 3-pointer as well when left alone. She is just productive.

It’s always fun when you see a younger prospect with Alexis’ size, talent, and skill step up and just be the best player on the floor, and Sunday afternoon she did just that. She is such a smooth athlete with good perimeter skill and a natural feel for the game. It’s obvious she has great upside, but when you add that determination element, it’s difficult to stop her. She can handle the ball and create offense for herself or others, plus she’s a very good perimeter shooter. She is long, wiry strong, and she can use her size to defend bigger players, while using her athletic ability to defend wings/guards.

Sarah’s development from last Summer to this Spring has been fun to watch. She is playing much stronger, more physical, and she’s asserting herself on the glass and scoring the ball around the block, finishing through contact better. She has great length, wiry strength, and she plays with an outstanding motor. Defensively, she can block the occasional shot, but she’s much better as a help-side defender who rotates well and anticipates drives from perimeter players. The next step for her will be to add an expanded mid-post game.

After watching Grace play a couple of games on Sunday with her 16U team, I thought she was a very nice 2023. Then in preparation to write this article, I found out she was a 2024, and “wow”. Grace is a long, smooth, and fluid point guard prospect with good speed/quickness. She is a pure shooter with some range as well, and the threat of her beating you off the bounce allows her some space at times. For those of you familiar, she reminds me of a

I guess weekend after weekend Olivia is just going to fill up the nets until teams figure out you just can’t leave her open anywhere inside of 27-feet. There are some knockdown shooters in Indiana’s 2024 class, and she is definitely at or near the top of that list. On another note, she looked stronger with the ball this weekend, and was handling pressure/traffic much better. I think that’s going to be the biggest thing with her recruiting…whether she’ll be recruited as a shooting/scoring point guard or more of an undersized ‘2’. She is skilled, though, she just needs to continue getting stronger.

Faith’s future is extremely bright because she has good height, great length, and fluid athleticism, plus she still might grow another inch or two, and she really just needs to continue adding strength to her frame. At her height, she moves around the floor very well, plus she has some skill facing the basket to the perimeter. She is not a center, and I think as she gets stronger she will be able to play lower longer, helping her handle, the range on her jump-shot, plus her ability to sit down and defend more types of players. She had a really nice Freshman season, but I think her best days are well-ahead of her.

. Aubrey is very similar, in that she’s a long, wiry, fairly fluid forward who can play at all three levels. She shot the ball well Sunday when I saw her, she handled it well in the open floor, and she plays with a really nice motor. She’s another kid who just needs to finish growing, because as she adds strength, she’ll become more explosive and be able to absorb contact a lot better. She’ll definitely be one to follow the next four years.
Mylie Wilkison, 2025, 5-6 CG, Greensburg H.S.
This was my first time seeing Mylie play, and she definitely has a great deal of potential. She is extremely long, fairly fluid, and she has good all-around athleticism. She can handle the ball and be a point guard for her team, she has the ability to turn the corner and get to the basket, plus she can create space with the dribble. She can also knock down open rhythm jumpers consistently. Defensively, she’s a real problem with her length, plus she’s somewhat feisty and will battle. Her older sister is 2021 Ohio State University softball commit
